S-Occ™ is available with the following fixtures:

How to order. Start by choosing your luminaire from the list of fixtures available with S-Occ™.Specify. Once you’ve chosen a fixture, determine which mode you want the sensors to operate: OCO – all lamps on/off usingprogram rapid-start ballast; OC2C – one lamp sensored, one lamp on; or OCDM – dim to 10% standby mode using 0-10Vdimming ballast.

De-coding our part numbers:

As emergency exits and high-security pedestrianpassageways, and stairways require high-performance, reliable lighting. Yet seldom are these spaces occupied, and leaving them fully illuminated 24/7 is no longer a sustainable practice.

Saving Energy, Cutting Costs, and Reducing Emissions.

Whether you’re working on an entirely new design or

the retrofit of an existing building, automatic lighting control

systems can dramatically cut energy use, lower operating

costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG).

In fact, an Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change

(IPCC) report identified electricity as the single largest

contributor to GHG emissions.

And buildings are the single largest consumer of

electricity, with GHG emissions projected to grow

faster than those from any other sector — from

around 33% today to 37% by 2030.

Here’s the good news: Improving energy efficiency in

buildings could offset 85% of the projected incremental

demand for electricity. And thanks to the kind of innovation

you’ll find from Prudential, creating energy-efficient

solutions is easier than ever.

Stringent Codes Meet Aesthetic Flexibility.

With a wide range of Prudential fixtures now available

with integrated lighting controls, architects and designers

are sure to find there’s a Prudential luminaire in compliance

with today’s stringent energy codes. Yet in choosing a

Prudential fixture, you’ll find it’s easy to meet your aesthetic

criteria as well. Our Pru15, M7 and Snap are just some

of the more popular Prudential designs that can be

specified to include integrated lighting controls.

Prudential Ltg. has always been a smart choice for architects anddesigners who demand simple, cost-effective solutions that don’tcompromise performance. And when the challenge is finding moreenergy-efficient ways to light classrooms and workspaces,Prudential is again the place to turn. Many of our best-sellingfixtures are now available with control sensors integrated directlyinto the housing. Our fixtures arrive at the jobsite with the controlspre-programmed, so there’s no complex commissioning requiredof the contractor. With integrated controls, Prudential fixtures areready to start cutting energy costs right out of the box. And thatmakes perfect sense.

Knowing the right light. Prudential Ltg fixtures have longbeen a favorite choice of architects and designers seekingperformance and value in a classroom lighting solution. Now, there’s another reason to put Prudential at the topof your list: the Sense™ System. To meet the challenge ofcutting energy costs and helping to reduce emissions, the system employs advanced technologies, including

solar-power for its PIR occupancy sensors. Sense™ isable to determine whether a classroom is occupied or not,and deactivate the lighting as needed. Natural daylight isharvested when available, automatically dimming thelighting from the appropriate fixtures. And because thesystem is wireless, it saves both material andmanpower costs in its installation.

Planning Information. Motion Sensors: Ceiling mounted occupancy sensor has a walking motion radius of just over 20’ feetof coverage, or about 1500 SF in a space with a 9-ft ceiling. Sensor is solar powered, with the charge lasting about 48 hours.Sensor is set to power off all lamps if the room is unoccupied for 10 minutes. Luminaires are manually switched on at theclassroom door, or teacher control switch, so that lights do not trip on unintentionally.

Daylight Harvesting Sensors: Fixture integrated daylight harvesting sensors should belocated over typical work surfaces, within 6-10 feet of the window. A typicaldaylighting zone is usually 15 feet in from the window wall. Specific site conditionswill dictate the designation of dimming zones.

If fixture rows are parallel to windows, one daylight sensor can control the entirewindow row. Inside fixture row may or may not need a daylight sensor, depending onroom conditions. One sensor can control up to twenty 0-10V dimming ballasts. In the Sense™ System, only the outer lamp rows are controlled by the daylightsensors. The center lamp row is dimmed manually at the Teacher Control Station.

Determining Row Types

How to order Sense™ System. Transforming classroom lightingwith the energy savings of our Sense™ System controls is easy.It only takes a few steps, outlined in detail below. Before you canspecify the right solution for your needs, you’ll need to start bydetermining the type of rows in each classroom. Are they parallelor perpendicular to the windows? Are the windows high? Onceyou’ve identified your particular scenario, you’re ready to specifythe appropriate luminaires and control systems.

Page 7: PRU Controls Brochure

Step1:Specify your luminaire. For all the features of the Sense System, specify Wave2 or Pru15, with 3 lamp rows, D3Cdistribution, dual circuiting, and the INTC (integrated controls) option. Indicate any other options such as extended cablelengths, acrylic dust cover, or emergency batteries.

If the A/V lighting mode feature is not necessary for the project needs, the other features of the system: the wirelessswitching, day light harvesting, and occupancy sensing are still available when a 2-lamp system is specified.

2RightLight™ Daylight Harvesting. More and more, architects are learning to harvest natural daylightwithin their designs to help meet lighting requirements as efficiently as possible. Partnering with Philips,Prudential Ltg. offers a simple, flexible way to help optimize the lighting usage in interior spaces:RightLight™ Daylight Harvesting. Got Daylight? It’s Savings Time.

For architects and designers, one of the key questions today is this: how do youcreate opportunities in the building’s design and site orientation to utilize availabledaylight for natural illumination of interior spaces? One critical component: cutting-edge sensor technologies that accurately measure light levels and adjust theoperation of the fixtures to maximize efficiency. That’s RightLight™

And because RightLight™ is integrated into the housing of the Prudential fixture, installers and end-users don’t have to worry about complicated programmingor commissioning. It’s a true ‘plug-and-play’ solution.

Choose Your Luminaire. Any of the Prudential fixtures shown on the opposite page can be fitted with RightLight™ DaylightHarvesting technology. So make the selection that’s the ideal fixture to help fulfill your aesthetic vision and functional requirements.

RightLight™ comes integrated into our fixtures from the factory. There’s no additional wiring to the fixture, and power packs orDALI ballasts are not required. Our fixtures arrive on the jobsite pre-calibrated to dim when light levels reach 45fc. If adjustmentsare necessary, it’s easy to do in the field. Just turn the bezel, and the photocell’s aperture opens or closes to change thecalibration.

Prudential fixtures fitted with RightLight™ technology are an affordable way to create multiple daylighting zones. The system canoperate up to twenty 0-10V ballasts on one sensor.

Determine your Dimming zones. To determine the number of dimming zones, general design guidelines are to locate the sensorover characteristic work surfaces, approximately 6’ to 10’ from the window. The daylit zone is typically within 15’ of the window.

Scenario B: One Dimming Zone - Two SensorsRows perpendicular to window wall.To help determine the number of dimming zones, thegeneral design guidelines are to locate the sensor overwork surfaces, approximately 6’ to 10’ from the window. The daylit zone is usually within 15’ of the window.• In this example, fixture rows are perpendicular to window wall.

• Each row is controlled separately, with one sensor each withinthe dimming zone.

Scenario C: Two Dimming Zones - Four SensorsHigh window wall.Since daylight entering into an interior falls off in intensitythe further it enters into the space, sometimes it is necessaryto create more than one dimming zone.• In this example, fixture rows are perpendicular to a high window wall.

The result is 2 dimming zones and 1 non-dimming zone.

• The rows are controlled separately, with two control zoneswithin each row.
