Being a Good Audience Member

Arrive on time! If you are late, don’t enter the room until the speaker

finishes presenting.

Turn off your cell phone!

If you are nervous, try to keep it to yourself. Don’t tell

others about it. For nervousness can be

contagious. Think positive and take some deep

breaths!

Give the speaker your undivided attention!

Don’t talk to your neighbors during a presentation!

Avoid interrupting the presenter. Hold comments &

questions until the end.

Nonverbally show the speaker you are listening!

Applaud for the speaker when he/she finishes!

If you disagree with the speaker, communicate this

privately to the speaker after class. Do NOT do it in

front of the entire class.

Take the time to provide the speaker feedback. Politely sharing what the speaker did well and what he/she needs to improve on can help the speaker deliver a

better speech in the future.

Remember the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do

unto you!
