Introduce your Psychologist

The Psychologist I interviewed was Catherine Jenkins Hall.

She mostly deals with marriage counseling. She has been a psychologist for about 25

years. She currently is working in Mission Viejo right

off Crown Valley.

Why they became a psychologist? Catherine told me she became a Psychologist because she fell in love with the subject in high school and wanted to continue with it in college. She majored in it and liked the idea of helping others try to work out there marriages.

How they became a Psychologist? She became a Psychologist by majoring in

Psychology in college and starting her own practice when she graduated. Her father also inspired her to be a Psychologist because he was one.

What they think are the pros of their career as a psychologist? The hours are good

because you can decide your appointment times

Knowing that you are helping others

You have a greater understanding of the human mind and how the human mind works

What they believe are the cons of their career as a psychologist? Dealing with there stress level, because it

can get very stressful The stories they hear are sometimes painful

to listen to Being on-call is sometimes hard You are always hearing the negative

Advice for young students who are considering a career in psychology? Do well in school because there is a lot of schooling

involved. If you do become a psychologist try not to become

jaded but try to separate work and your personal life.

No matter how many years you are practicing you will never have all the answers, each person has there own way of dealing with problems.

You want to be involved with your patients enough so you care but you can’t get to emotionally evolved, because you are not God.

Do you dwell on other peoples problems throughout your career? Well of course, some information can be hard

to listen to and try to give solutions but mainly I try to help them through the problem and not let it affect my life.

Does your job affect your home life? Well, at times it is hard to balance everything

from being a working mom. Sometimes I barely even see my kids or husband because I am so overwhelmed with other peoples problems. But I do my best to set aside a time for work and family.
