Treasurer Report

❖ Total Income for March & April: $55, 808 ➢ >$50,000 from Spring Fling (bringing the total to >$56,000!!)

❖ Total Expenses for March & April: $42,286 ➢ $17,742 for literacy specialist/librarian/nurse/math tutors

➢ About $5K for Massive Monkees residency + $700 for their whole school assembly ➢ About $4K in Spring Fling expenses

➢ About $4K for ipads for the Maker Space

➢ About $2K for field trips for KG/1st/2nd and 4th grade

➢ $1000 in scholarships for Musical & $700 for buses to support math remediation/after school programs

➢ About $500 EACH for staff discretionary spending, staff appreciation and Spirit Gear expenses

2019-2020 Budget Proposal

❖ PTA Cash Position makes funding this proposed budget possible.

❖ Changes to Expenses

➢ Family Support (7150), Hospitality (7350), Enrichment Residencies (8850), Maker Space (8860), Staff Discretionary Fund (9200)

❖ Fundraising

➢ Annual Give: $75,000 (Increased goal by 2.7%)

➢ Spring Fling: $55,000 (Match money earned this year; Increase goal as planned when ending bi-annual auction)

➢ Jog-a-thon: $20,000 (Increase goal as planned when ending bi-annual auction)

Playground Update & Funding Request

❖ The PTA approved $9,000 at the October 2018 Community Meeting to complete finishing touches on the playground. Original scope included: ➢ Conversion of 1-2 tetherball posts to funnel ball hoops ➢ Purchase, install 2-3 picnic tables ➢ Purchase, install 1-2 benches

❖ After further discussion with Principal Clark and school staff, the preference is to install 4 picnic tables instead of benches so that we have space for an entire class to sit outside.

❖ Using the preferred table vendor and SPS for installation has resulted in an increased estimate of $12,500.

❖ An additional $3,500 is requested to complete this project (4 tables and 1 funnell ball conversion).

Volunteer Recognition

This year over 287 volunteers worked with the PTA to make Whittier a thriving, supported, and caring community. These are the individuals who welcomed new families, raised money

for PTA programs, worked the Fall Carnival and STEM Fair, guided students through class pictures and health/vision screenings, brought everyone together with fun and

educational events, organized the Spring Fling and MUCH, MUCH MORE.

Our students, our families, our staff, our community would not be the same without your time, energy, hard work and dedication.
