PTA stands for 'Parent Teacher Association' - over the last 5 years, we have raised over £150,000 which has beenspent on equipment and resources to enhance our children’s educational experience and the schools' facilities. The GroveSchools' PTA raises money, but also exists to provide closer links between home and school and is an excellent way tobring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal. It’s fun too -just ask any of the members or volunteers. All families are automatically members of The Grove Schools' PTA when theirchild joins the school.

WHAT IS A PTA?

THE COMMITTEE

Each September, we hold an AGM where a committee is elected. The committee work with the school to set fundraising goals,

agree events for the year and coordinate activities.

2019-2020 committee members are currently (from left to right) Kate Howley (Vice Chair - Nursery Mum), Kate Nesbitt (Co Chair -

Nursery & Year 1 Mum) and Michelle Lynch (Co Chair - Year 1 & 3Mum), Ann-Marie John (Treasurer - Year 4 Mum) and Claire Walker

(Secretary - Year 1 & 3 Mum). There are many more wonderful people thathelp us, from mums, dads, carers, grandparents and local businesses, but

we always need more people, so feel inspired and come and join the team!

Each class has a "PTA Champion". This person helpsus to communicate messages through the classWhatsApp groups; is a point of contact for any PTAquestions, and generally helps raise awareness ofactivities.

PTA CHAMPIONS & VOLUNTEERS

The PTA relies on volunteers and whilst many of the Groveparents and carers also have jobs, ANY amount of time youcan give is appreciated! Below are a few examples whereyou can help - you also get to have FUN!

The Grove Schools' PTA Sponsored Walk is back... This time

on Thursday 7 May (Bank Holiday Friday is the 8 May in case

you don't already know). Pop the date in the diary and get

those legs ready for walking fun! More details to follow.

SPONSORED WALK

We've had a few new parents join in at events and the meet-up which

makes all the difference, but we need more of you! We are starting to

organise the Olympics Family Fun Day and the Camp Out. Whilst we can

help lead, we can't do it all. Please support the school by heading to the

events page where we have put all the details for volunteering.

Just head straight here: www.pta-events.co.uk/thegroveschoolspta

Whether you have 30 minutes, or 2 hours, or can help all day. It all

supports the school, and means the events will happen.

Thanks to those that came along to the PTA Meet-Up. Forthcoming

events were discussed as well as new ideas and initiatives. Following

the meet-up, Kate Howley and Mich Lynch met with the Head

Teachers to talk about fundraising goals and specific items that we

can raise money for. More details to follow - if you have any

suggestions in the meantime, just let us know!
