Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to our end of October newsletter. I hope you enjoyed a restful holiday week.
Our first week back has been very sad, following the death of Mrs Mason, and I know you will join me in passing on our
thoughts and sympathy to her husband. She will be sadly missed in school.
Thank you to all of you who supported our 10th Birthday Celebrations. Our Assembly was very well attended, and allcomments we received were very complimentary: the pupils involved all did extremely well, and everyone really
enjoyed the celebration.
Our own party was very well-organised by Miss Austin, Mrs Shaw and the DJing group – many thanks to ASDA who
provided the refreshments for this. Twenty-five former pupils came along to our Reunion, and thoroughly enjoyed
catching up with each other and reminiscing about their time at the school here.
Thank you to all staff who were involved, particularly to Mrs Leishman for organising the decorating of the hall, Mrs
Moore for organising the photographs, Mrs Macguire and her Catering Group who catered both for the Assembly and
the Reunion, to Mrs Reid for organising the raffle, which raised £223, and to Mrs Peat, Mr McGinley and Mr Walker
for their help at the Assembly.
Thank you also to all of you who attended our Parents’ Information Afternoon, again, this was well attended and gave
everyone a chance to see some examples of curricular resources in use in the school.
At the time of writing, some of our S4 pupils are away in Pitlochrie, enjoying great Autumn weather and having lots of
fun – we look forward to hearing all about their adventures when they return!
I hope you will be able to join us for our next Assembly on Monday, 25th at 9.15 am – I look forward to seeing you
there.
We also look forward to meeting with you again at our Parent’s Nights – dates below - when you will have the
opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with their teachers: you will receive an interim report summarising their
progress prior to the Parents’ Nights.
It seems hard to believe that we are almost at the time of year to be organising our trip to Cumbernauld Theatre for
the Christmas Pantomime – details of dates and costs will follow next week.
Please note the school will be closed to pupils on the 3 InService Days – dates below.
Very Best Wishes
Gillian Robertson

Seasonal Flu and H1N1 Virus
Once again, can I remind you of the need for extra vigilance around seasonal flu and the H1N1 virus. To keep the
spread of infection to a minimum, please do not send your child to school if they have any of the following symptoms: -
high temperature, fever, headache, runny nose, sore throat, aching muscles and unusual tiredness. Please seek advice
from your GP. If your child develops any of these symptoms while at school, we would want to get them home as
quickly as possible, so please ensure that we can contact you easily. In addition, would you please remind your childrenof the importance of thorough hand-washing and if they are sick please keep them off school for at least 48 hours
after they have been free of any symptoms.
