Councillor Imogen Shepherd-DuBey is urging Emmbrookvoters to support Lib Demcandidate Rachel Bishop-Firthin this year’s borough elections.Imogen says “I have beenworking hard since I waselected to represent you. Forthe past few months Rachel hasbeen working with me, tacklingloads of local issues, includingthings like the crossing over therailway and the graffiti in theunderpass on Reading Road.

I want to tackle the issues which Wokinghamfaces including the rise in anti-social behaviour,the need for better roads and affordable housing,and spiraling council debt.

I’m seriously concerned by the level of councilborrowing. We believe that the cost of the town

centre regeneration is now over £2,000 for everyhousehold in the Borough. That’s only one partof the total debt, which is now forecast to reachas much as £600 million!

To make it worse, the council is spending £100million speculating on property, not just locallybut across the country. I want to challenge thisrecklessness.

We need the council to fight harder for moremoney for schools, and against building on greenspaces.

The status quo is not good enough. It’s time to demand better for our area.

Please give me the opportunity to work alongside Imogen in representing you and doingwhat is in the best interests of our community. Thank you!”

“When things havesettled down, we want the Council to show they have learned from this,so that it won’t happen again to other projects.”

Nationally, the Lib Dems havepledged to increase income tax by1p to raise £6 billion a year forthe NHS.Locally, the Lib Dems wouldreinstate funding to Health WatchWokingham, an independentgroup who monitor and challengelocal health providers.
