Rejected  get  Treatment  in  RSD,  SPM                                                                                              (Underprivileged  Statement  Letter)  was  Miserable  

SURABAYA  -­‐  even  though  the  claims  to  the  SPM  (Underprivileged  Statement  Letter)  payments  were  passed  on  to  their   respective  governments,   there  are  still  many  areas  that  refuse  SPM.  The  reasons   is  the  Underprivileged  Letter  issued  by  the  local  government  that  does  not  apply  anymore.  

It’s   felt  by  married  couples,  Muhammad  Aris   (34)  dan  Herawati   (30),  Dusun  Bibis  RT  04  RW   IV,  Keret,  Kecamatan   Krembung,   Sidoarjo.   RSD   Sidoarjo   refuse   to   give   treatment   to   Puji   Pratama   (3,5  months),  who  suffering  from  hydrocephalus.  

We  already   go   to   the  RSD   Sidoarjo  on   September   03.   But  we   should   go  back   again  because   the   SPM  legalization  is  less.  We  should  arrange  it  again  but  our  child  didn’t  get  any  treatment,  said  Ani,  sister  of  Muhammad  Aris,  when  visiting  by  Cleft  Care  Foundation  Indonesia  (CCFI)  Yesterday  (21/09).  

At   the   end,   the   family   trying   again   to   come   to   the  pediatric   at   RSD   Sidoarjo.   The   child   get   treatment  from  the  pediatric.  After  that,  said  Ani,  Puji  come  back  again  to  RSD  Sidoarjo  to  get  examination  to  the  neurologist.  But  once  again,  the  hospital  refuse  them.  The  reason  is  that  the  legalization  of  SPM  is  not  valid  again.  

The  family  really  disappointed,  the  doctor  refuse  to  doing  examination  to  Puji.  He  told  that  is  no  hope,  let   it   go.   Whereas,   we   only   want   that   this   child   held   by   the   doctor   and   see   his   condition.   But   the  neurologist  didn’t  touch  him  at  all  and  he  didn’t  open  Puji’s  file,  said  Ani  crying.  

The   family  afraid   that   the  head  of   the  child   that  born  on  26  August  2012  will  getting  bigger.  With  the  born  weight  gain  was  4,6  kg  and  head  circumference  51cm.  Puji  often  get  convulsions.  He   is  very   tiny  but  his  head  getting  bigger  in  weeks.  Start  from  53  cm  now  already  56  cm.  Besides  that,  the  bump  also  appears  in  the  head.  He  also  have  cleft  lip.  Puji  also  got  bronchopneumonia.  

Endang   Lestari,   CCFI   senior   community   healthcare   officer   said,   actually   Puji   can   be   cure  with   put   the  shunt   draining   the   brain   fluid.   Because   if   the   fluid   didn’t   take   out   can   make   brain   damage   and  subsequently  mental  retardation.  

However,   the   cost   of   the   shunt   is   expansive.  We  only   can  help  with   cleft   lip   surgery   and   improve  his  nutrition.  For    hydrocephalus,  better  the  government  and  donator  help  him.
