1.1 Problem Definition and Mission Statement.
Most of traveller faced the problem to get clean water when in their travel. They
also must bring the supply water for a few day travels. They didn’t want to spend more
space only for water. They also must give a space for another thing. It could be easy if
they just take the water from the river but it not clean to be drinking.
The alternative way, we try to give the solution for this problem. This problem can
be solving if we design a bottle which purpose for travel. The features must be less
space and can provide the clean water. In addition, we try to produce the bottles that
high durability which suitable for traveller, convenient size to carry and performs the best
functions which provides the clean water by filtered it.
1.2 Overall Objective for the Design Project
After we had a discussion with our team members, we decided to make a simple
bottle water purification which performs like a filter water system. The design should be
simple, attractive, light weight, easy to carried, high durability and tough materials. The
design also should be ergonomic to make sure it safely to be use.
Besides that, the price of this bottle should not be too expensive because it will
burden people to buy it.

RANKING:
1 – Feature is undesirable, a product/ process with this feature should not be considered
2 – Feature is not important, but would be ok to have.
3 – Feature would be nice to have, but is not necessary.
4 – Feature is highly desirable, a product/ process without it should be considered.
5 – Feature is critical, a product/ process without this feature should not be considered.

2.1 Customer Requirement Statement
From our research by do the market analysis and surveys from the customer, which important requirement must be fulfilled are:
Light weightThe bottle should be light weight cause easy to carry for travel
Affordable price
The price must be affordable because travel activities also include the students
Attractive design
The design for the bottle must be suitable cause what to use in travelling.
Environmental friendly
The bottle must be environmental friendly and easy to be eliminate without give any pollution to the nature.
Non-chemical
The materials using is non chemical and doesn’t give any effect to the water drinking by the customer.
Comfortable to carryThe size of bottle comfortable to be holds by the customer.
SizeThe size must fit design cause easy to carry and keep into beg.
Quality material
The materials used are high quality of plastic materials which suitable for travel activities.

2.3 Justification for Different Elements in the House of Quality.
We make market analysis and try to identify the market target. We gather
information from the customer’s, and base on their requirement we try to put the feature
needed into our product.
For the engineering requirement we divided into three categorized which are
performance measure, size of range and technical detail. Customer requirements
communicate with technical requirements.
In the performance measure, we state three specification of our bottle.
European Standard – the dimension used is ISO with mm being the length and
kg for the weight.
Bottle weight – light weight cause easy to carry for travel
Material Strength – the quality of material using based on the standard plastic
bottle
In the size of range, we state two specification of our bottle.
No of colour – to attract the customer
No of sizes – the quality of materials using based on the standard plastic bottle
In the technical detail, we state five specification of our product
Ergonomic – the design must be safely to our customer
Durability – high quality materials
Thickness bottle – the thickness related with the light weight of the bottle
Types of filter – the selection of filter will affect the result of water
– The water result must free chemical

2.4 Discussion of House of Quality Results
By looking at House of Quality results, we determine that there are 4 most
important things for our technical requirement which is the types of filter, types of plastic,
durability and no of size.
From this four feature, the most important part is the filter. The filter must be
functional, easy to clean and have a long lifespan. Types of the plastic are also important
because it determines the toughness of the product. The plastic material also affects the
toxicity in the water. So we need to carefully choose types of plastic that is safe for food
according to the Food Safety Act. From the House of Quality, we realize that the
durability is also another factor to consider. So, it is clear that the customer wanted a
product that is hard to break and strong. The last we decide to focus more is the size of
the bottles. Since our target market is traveller. We will carefully study the suitable size
for the product to fit perfectly on the traveller bag.

3.4 Group Analysis of Result and Recommendations
Feasibility Judgement Analysis
From 12 concept that have been design, we selected four that we think suitable as our final candidate after combining and revising the design. From that four, we create our scoring matrix and found out that there are disadvantages and advantages between the designs.
Conclusion
From this analysis, we conclude that concept no 4 if combine with concept no 1 is the most appropriate to be our alpha prototype candidate. So, we still need to do some modification to our design for the final product.

![Page 41: Purifier Bottle Project Report](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022081412/544924fdaf7959a4538b46ab/html5/thumbnails/41.jpg)
CHAPTER 4: FINAL DESIGN
4.1 Detailed Description of the Final Design
Our final design consists of 5 parts. Part no 1 is the body and it was design with ergonomic principle n mind. It full of curve and the shape is easy to hold. The filter is removable for easy cleaning. There is a space for keeping small items at the bottom and can be remove if not needed.
The filter system uses the latest technology that we stumble upon in the net. It was something like silicon that can act as a purifier.
We also decided to use PET as our product material since from our research; we found that PET is safe for water and also durable for long lasting product life cycle.

4.2 DFMA, Safety Consideration of the Final Design
We did some improvement to fulfil the design for manufacturing and assembly where
we simplify the design and reducing the number of parts because each part there is an
opportunity for a defective part and assembly error. However, since the feature demanded
needs the extra part, we cannot reduce the number of component.
Nonetheless, we try to improve our final design on the next product so that the
number of component could be reduce and thus reducing the cost of the product. On the
other side, for our safety consideration, we decided to use the most effective filter system
and since it can be wash and clean back. We could say that our product will not bring hazard
to the user in term of water poisoning or get sick.
42
![Page 43: Purifier Bottle Project Report](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022081412/544924fdaf7959a4538b46ab/html5/thumbnails/43.jpg)
4.3 Designs for Sustainability Consideration of the Final Design
For our final design, we consider that our product should last for about 20 years or
so. We try to achieve this by using a proper material and the thickness of the bottle is also
put into consideration so that the bottle could withstand a strong force so that it will not break
easily.
4.4 Advantages and Disadvantages of the Final Design
Advantages Disadvantages
Beautiful design Many parts
Ergonomics High cost
Firm hold
Easy to clean
Durable
4.5 Conclusion
After doing all the research and studies on our product, we can conclude that our
product still needs a lot of improvement in term of number of component and also for the
fabrication process. We believe that we can still optimise the design of the product so that
when developing it, the cost for fabrication will reduce and that we can sell the product at
cheaper price.
