Putting It All Together
Like puzzles, many aspects of a child’s life involves different pieces that are put together to
make the whole. In this series of Play School we explore the idea of parts and whole and
different ways of putting it all together.
There are many parts to routines like getting dressed, having breakfast or getting ready to go
out. Play can involve putting things together - building and constructing with blocks, drawing
a picture or telling a story with toys. Many activities in homes and communities, such as
cooking, gardening, washing, and tidying up, need us to put things together in certain ways
and in a certain order.
Join us throughout this series as we put together recipes, a broom scarecrow, indoor and
outdoor scenes and all sorts of things to play with! We also look through the windows to see
some children making crafty dress ups, being part of a school band, preparing homemade
pizzas, creating cardboard box cars and setting up a lemonade stand!

Dress Ups
(Play School, ABC)
IDEAS FOR LATER
Create your own farm scene with pillows,
fabric and plastic farm animals. You could
use recycled plastic containers for farm
buildings like a shed or perhaps a water
tank. Can you find something in your
recycling that could be used as a pig pen
or a chicken coop?
Play a guessing game with a friend. Take
turns to make different animal sounds and
guess which animal makes that sound.
Do you have a dog or a cat? Can you
watch carefully and copy the way your
dog or cat moves, or eats or plays?
