    About one third of the primary energy is used to generate electric

    power. This form of energy has become very popular and is widelyused for industrial and household applications.

    The electrical energy represents about 12% of all energy consumed

    worldwide. Figure 1.2 shows the present distribution of primary

    energy sources, their contribution to the production of electricity, andthe use of electricity
