Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? I’ve learnt that the technology you use has a big impact on the finished product. When creating the magazine I used for the preliminary task I used power point, as a result of this the end product came out low quality; the image was blurry, the structure of each feature was laid out poorly and the text didn’t fit in with the background, however when I created the magazine I used for my end product I used adobe in design, as a result of this the end product came out high quality, the image was clear, everything looked as if it belonged in its position and the text and background harmonised with each other. I’ve also learnt that the design of the magazine is very important, when creating the magazine I used for the preliminary task I had done very little research on existing products, as a result of this my magazine looked more like a poster than a magazine, however after looking at a few more existing hip hop magazines such as vibe I managed to get a better understanding of the layout. Overall my understanding of different software’s has improved greatly throughout this project, at the beginning of the project I had no clue how to use software such as adobe in design and by the end of it I managed to produce a professional looking magazine using this software. Also I feel as if I have greater understanding and knowledge on how to produce a music magazine as my end product looks much more interesting and links much better to the genre of my music magazine, this is due to my improvement and development, you can clearly tell in comparison to the preliminary task.

Preliminary TaskMock up

As you can see there is a major difference in the quality of each magazine cover, trial and error is the only way to improve things and this is a great example of trial and error.
