The Main poster uses an Asian character on the poster so it uses the conventions of a J horror film. Although it doesn't use or contain Japanese writing like the typical J horror film posters it still uses the same colour scheme as The Grudge's poster as it uses red and white font colours and has an Asian character on the front. Both The Grudge's poster and our poster has an Asian male character on the poster. Our poster challenges the conventions of a typical J horror film, the only convention the poster followed was the credits at the bottom

Little Red 2nd poster

The Grudge (Ju-On) poster

Our poster below uses the conventions of a J Horror film poster as it contains Japanese throughout the poster. Our poster also has an Asian character on the front, this goes against the typical J horror convention as J Horror film normally have Yurei which are females and our character is an innocent person.

Japanese horror, sometimes referred to as J-horror, is the Japanese contribution to horror fiction in popular culture. They are most well noted for their unique thematic & conventional treatment of horror, in light of western treatments.

Japanese horror has been hugely influential over the years and many films have been re-made by the western market such as The Ring and The Grudge

They tend to focus on psychological horror and tension building, involving ghosts, poltergeists, possession, and exorcism.

A common convention of J-Horror films is the Yūrei. Yurei are Japanese ghosts bound to the physical world through emotions which do not allow them to pass on. Depending on the emotion, they manifest as a particular type of ghost.

Yurei are female, who wear white clothing. In Japan white clothing is a funeral attire. They have long, unkempt black hair, which comes from the tradition of Japanese women growing their hair long & wearing it pinned up, only letting it down in death.
