How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and

evaluation stages?

I used the Apple Macbook for the majority of the project although I also used an LG windows operating system at home. I am

experienced on both platforms having used both the Macbook and LG throughout my AS year.

I used a Nikon D5000 when filming and for the photo-shoot. It took great quality close-ups and (which is essential for psychological

thrillers) but it struggled when taking landscapes. It was also very good at ground level shots as the 360 degree screen allowed us to

set the shot perfectly. The biggest issue is that it couldn’t auto-focus so it had to be done all manually. Therefore the majority of shots in our film have a constant focus point which reduced our

creativity.

Unsurprising, I have created my blog on Blogger which holds my entire project including research and planning. Although there is a

lot of creativity to be had on Blogger I have found it to have too many bugs during the process as some of my slideshare

presentations have come out badly.

Slideshare is a service that allows you to upload your presentations online. I have used Powerpoint to create my presentations. One

issue I have had with Slideshare is that you can’t upload a presentation above 10 megabits in space.

My partner and I used iMovie when editing our film due to it’s relative simplicity compared to other video software. As the video

above demonstrates, it didn’t take us long to edit on iMovie. It allowed us to edit to a professional standard to attract our target

audience.

I used Photoshop CS4 to edit my images for the poster and double page spread. It is a very expensive and professional package that allowed me to produce exactly what I wanted. The clone tool was

particularly useful in removing the cars from the image in our poster (shown in the video above).

Other media technologies used:

Very useful when looking for specific fonts for my poster and double page spread. You simply download the fonts you like and then install them onto the computer

Youtube was very useful when I wanted to upload videos for public feedback

Vital when trying to get specific information from my target audience.
