QCA Tests Years 3 – 5 Reading test Deliver Test A and Test B on separate days (not consecutively) Allow maximum time of one hour for test A Allow maximum time of 40 minutes for test B Writing test Deliver long task and short task on separate days (not consecutively) Allow maximum time of one hour for long task Allow maximum time of 40 minutes for short task Maths test Allow maximum time of one hour for tests. In years 3 and 4, teachers will need to decide which of the two tests children will sit as there are different tests designed for different ability groups. Teachers will need to consider predicted levels and current T.A. levels when deciding. If children are below level 2C in Year 3 or below level 2B in Year 4, teachers could make use of KS1 test. Reported results need to indicate use of KS 1 test. In Year 5 there are 2 written tests which all children expected to reach level 3C or above will sit. Children currently below level 3C could sit the Year 4 test. If children are below level 2B, teachers could make use of KS1 test. Reported results need to indicate use of KS 1 test. All children will sit a mental maths test. This should be administered after the written papers.
