Secretary and Correspondent’s Message
At the outset, I appreciate the faculty members who have developed a biped robot and a bomb detector
robot and guided their students to design and develop compressed air vehicle and solar boat successfully
with an experiment. It shows the importance given to the practical work at the QIS laboratories. I expect
the same ceaseless efforts from the faculty and students to gear up the research work and bring innovative
designs to strengthen the institute research hub further.
I firmly believe that the development of an educational institution lies in the academic affluence of the
faculty. I express my appreciation heartily to the faculty who obtained doctorate degrees from premier
universities.
I m happy to note that Research and Development cell is gearing up in the Institute. A Centre of
Excellence for Robotics, Digital Manufacturing and Cloud Computing has been established recently in
the institute to develop research skills to meet the Global demand of the respective industry.
To give impetus to industry relevant skills, the institutions have made an agreement for Workforce
Development Programme with Oracle India Pvt., Ltd., and exchanged MOUs with Tee Wave Powertech
Pvt.Ltd, Associated Engineering Services, and Computer Vision Laboratories (India) Pvt. Ltd., .
It s my pleasure to say that we have received AICTE grants for upgrading the Labs in the institute. I m
proud that QIS is a trailblazer in setting and reaching the goals.
Principal’s Message
It is indeed commendable that the faculty members have published a book for Engineering
Mathematics and a lab manual for physics laboratory. Many research papers of the faculty have
been published in reputed international journals.
I feel happy to say that QISCET has got the approval of ISTE for the formation of ISTE Chapter
at the institution in 2013. Mega workshops on cloud computing, virtualization, JAVA, ORACLE
and Sak Robotics etc., was organized under ISTE to enlighten the students about the latest trends
of emerging technology.
QISCET is known for its quality research and placements. Many students have been placed in
reputed MNCs in the yester semester. I believe firmly that social service and awareness are
essential for the youth. The Institute s NSS Body is very active. Blood Donation campaign has
become a custom in the college. The NSS unit in collaboration with Lions Club, Ongole,
conducted a Mega Blood Donation Camp in the college.
Number of students donated blood at the camp.
CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR
ROBOTICS & DIGITAL MANUFACTURING

Industrial Visits
The institute is moving ahead with innovative
live projects which are reputable for the
institute. Students of Mechanical Engineering
have developed a Compressed Air Vehicle and
a Solar Boat and tested successfully. It shows
the practical scenario of laboratories and hard
work, determination and perseverance of the
students at QIS.
COMPRESSED AIR VEHICLE
Students of Mechanical Engineering demonstrating their
Compressed AIR VEHICLE
Compared to batteries, compressed air is
favorable because of a high energy density,
low toxicity, fast filling at low cost and long
service life. These issues make it technically
challenging to design air engines for all kind
of compressed air driven vehicles. Many
concept vehicles were proposed that run on
everything from solar power to algae, but most
of them are expensive and require hard-to-find
fuels. Compressed air vehicle project in the
form of light utility vehicle (LUV) (i.e., air car
in particular) has been a topic of great interest
for the last decade and many theoretical and
experimental investigations.
SOLAR BOAT
Mechanical students displaying the model of Solar Boat
The boat works on the principle of conversion
of solar energy into electrical energy and
further this electrical energy is converted in to
mechanical energy. When the solar rays fall on
the solar panels the solar energy get converted
into electrical energy.
Solar Boat developed by Mechanical Engineering
students
A charge controller is placed in between solar
panels and batters. It regulates the charge flow
and supply required amount of energy to the
batteries. From batteries the electrical energy
is supplied to the A.C. 1000 rpm gear
propeller shaft which is coupled to the motor,
as the motor rotates the propeller rotates there
by producing mechanical energy. When the
propeller is immersed in the water, water is
pushed back and the boat moves forward. The
Forward and backward direction of the boat is
controlled by the Radio controlled remote
circuit given to the motor.
Oracle Certification
QIS Students - Oracle Database SQL Certified Experts
II B.Tech students have been trained by Oracle
India Pvt., Ltd. Chennai, under Oracle
Workforce Development Programme and
certified as Oracle Database SQL Certified
Experts. Very few achieve this high standard
certification from Oracle. It provides the
students to be successful in a complex and
interconnected world. QIS is proud to have
such kind of students to be certified as Oracle
Database SQL Certified Experts in II B.Tech
level.
