Bulldoes Break Record McPherson Scores A Win!

by Kev.n Burton The 1983 Bulldogs fonoshed woth a

2-6-1 record on the KCAC The defense was stellar as the

Dogs got off to a quock 2-0 start The povotat game of the season was a heart-breaking toss at Kansas Wesleyan. McPherson clearly outplayed K. W , but theor own mostakes cost them the game. After that, Mac could muster only one toe.

After the season was over, the

KCAC determ.ned that McPherson would forfeot their forst won over Froends due to the onelogoboloty of one of theor players. So, the offocial record woll be hsted as 1-7-1

In hos senoor season, Gerald Henderson (Maywood, IL) broke the alltome McPherson record for yards rushong on hos way to beong named all KCAC. Also on the forst team was Steve Moore (McPherson, KS), also a senoor

Btlly O'Neol (soph., Houston, MO) was named to the second team, and three other standouts receoved honorable mentoon: Glen O'Neil (sr., Houston, MO). Doug Fitzmorris (soph., Lucas, KS), and Eddie Crumpacker (soph., McCune, KS).

Also followong the season, Coach Dave Grope announced his retirement after three seasons at the Bulldog helm.

Seniors by Bruce Spttzer

Like straws tn the wheat fteld, the class of 1984 began tis college career 1n August of t980 They were a dtverse group. comtng from all parts of the fteld as 11 were. But as lifettme fnends were formed and "golftng budd1es" became close compantons. these straws bonded 1nto a broom. All we wanted was to make some type of sweep on our floor McPherson College

We are now semors and almost done sweep1ng Some of our jobs have been pretty tough piles of dtrt,

others only t1ny p1eces of dust. But all our sweeps have been tmportant. We have seen changes· the gym. a new food serv1ce, remodeling of the Student Umon and many others

But tfle broom must eventually wear out. Some of the straws fell out soon. others clung 1111 the very last. Those who are lefJ w1ll be scattered by the winds ol the world Some of our straws Will stay together as husband and w1fe. Others wtll go their separate ways through various career choices· teachers. accountants. b1olog1Sts. farmers. and resto-

ratton techmc1ans. The most hardy straws w1ll choose·to JOin another broom 1n the graduate school of thetr cho1ce

We can only hope that our broom has made a good clean sweep on McPherson. a sweep that. for a wh1le. won't get too d1rty.

Winter Covers Campus

Second semester came after Interterm. And Interterm was one covered w1th snow. but that soon melled and ' February brought on a warm spell. But that didn't last long and more snow covered the campus

Still kept 1ndoors for the most part. students were watch1ng more TV. play1ng racquetball 1n the new Sports Center. and having more popcorn parties -try1ng to add a social life to the~r studious college lives.

SAB prov1ded movies in Brown Aud1tonum and a 60's week to keep the activ1t1es roll1ng for the campus. Then spnng came and that's a different story

"The Last Few Pieces''

The last few pteces of our puzzle were put 1n place Spr1ng hit us wnh the ra1n at hrst. then the green grass. warm sunsh.ne and "Spnng Fever!" Students took advantage of the n1ce weather and had p1cn1CS, rode the1r b1cycles. and brought out that dusty fnsbee Some of the g1rls even hung the1r laundry outs1de to dry!

Spnng semester brought the senousness of new recrUits. busy v1sttat1on days and the last of the deadltnes for the college pub1tcat1ons But the spnng semester also brought the craz.ness of the students late-n1ght VISiting on the steps of Fanny, sunbathers. dorm p1cn1cs w1th "moon pictures" and even camp1ng tnps!
