Question 1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and

conventions of real media products?

The house-style of my magazine is similar to Q magazine, which is where I mostly got inspiration from. Firstly, in my magazine I stuck by a strict colour scheme of burgundy, black, grey and white. I did this because a lot of existing music magazines tend to do the same, as it brings structure to the magazine and organisation.

The masthead on my front cover is also large and bold and easy for customers to notice. The contrast of the burgundy and white which makes the title stand out even more. This is what all magazines do to ensure that their masthead is easily visible in the hope that customers will recognise their magazine over others, and buy it.

On the contents page, I have used many conventions of a real magazine. For example, I have included several images that I have photographed and edited myself on the right hand side of the page. I have used one image of my main model that is featured in the article, another model used for a different story in the magazine and a photograph that I took during a concert. I also added a banner across the top of the page that holds the magazine logo, the title of the page and the issue date of the magazine. Idone this because I have seen a lot of existing magazines do this, and I want itto resemble an authentic music magazine.
