In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Page 2: Question 1 front cover

The main image is in the centre of the of the page and stands out to attract the audience as you can see in my magazine and the professional magazine. The image has direct address once again to attract the audience because it looks like the image is looking at them. The main image doest have anything covering the face because that is the focus of the image that the audience will first see and will be attracted to. For example a recognisable face will not be covered to bring in the audience.

The Coverlines on my magazine are placed at either side of the image not covering the image too much so it is still the focus of the front cover. I used effects on the Coverlines to make them stand out, the effects were outer glow, inner glow and different drop shadows. The Coverlines are used to try and attract the audience, it shows what the article is going to be about but not giving away too much so they will want to carry on reading.

The main Coverline is there to attract the reader more than the other Coverlines because it has the biggest text and is the main article.

My masthead is big in the corner to make the name of the magazine stand out which is similar to the professional magazine on the right. The text also has an effect to make it stand out even more. My magazine isn’t a known magazine so I haven't covered IMM fully like Q have because people would not recognise it.

My barcode is on the bottom right as it is similar to the professional magazine on the left, only slightly lower. The date is on the top right of my magazine because it looked of place no matter where else I put it.
