Introduction

•I have carried out a Questionnaire to gather primary research data on what my target audience would prefer to include in my magazine. My research data also includes relevant data on my target audiences background.

Methods and Techniques

•I went out to the college canteen and conducted a focus group to gather the information from my colleges. I made sure that all of the people like Hip-Hop music and by doing this i got a good insight into what people would like to feature in my magazine. I conducted the research by using a tally chart and inserting it into the Numbers program on the Mac’s

Research Data (Part 1)These first 4 graphs are the basic information about the people i have questioned. They were asked how old they are, their gender, their employment status and their hobbies.

They were also asked where they live.The first graph shows that most of the people i asked were between 16 and 18 years of

age.The second graph shows that most of the people were male.

The third graph shows that most of the people i asked were students and in part time employment

The final graph shows that most of the hobbies people take part in are Sports.

People were also asked where they live. 6 live in Harlow and 1 of the people live in Bishops Stortford

•

Research Data (Part 2)This page of graphs is the general information about how many and what types of

magazines people read.The first graph shows that the people i questioned generally do not like spending a lot of

money of their magazines. Nobody spends more than £3 on a magazine a month.The second magazine shows that Vibe magazine is the favorite magazine which people

read.The final graph shows that over half of the people i questioned only buy 1 magazine a

month.

•

Research Data (Part 3)This last part of the Research data has been split into what the consumer what like to be

in the magazine and their general preferences on the Hip-Hop category.

The results show that more people would want a Photo Shoot to be included in the magazine as oppose to the other options.

The favorite colour scheme was Red and Black and out of a choice of 15 artist the two favorites were Lil Wayne and Drake. Many of the artists did not get a single vote.

Conclusion•By doing this questionnaire i have found

out a lot of background information about my target audience. I have also been given an insight into what people would like to feature in my magazine e.g. the colour scheme. This questionnaire has been very helpful and will act as a guideline into what i will do in my final task. Its also going to inform me into what i’m going to do as a textual analysis.

Proposals

•By completing this questionnaire i will go with what my target audience has requested. I will include a Red and Black colour scheme like my target audience proposed. I will also make the main feature of my magazine an interview with an up and coming new Hip-Hop star.
