DROP THE PUCKHEAD COACH RAND PECKNOLD• Rand Pecknold is currently in his 23rd season as the Bobcats head coach in 2016-17. • In 2015-16, Pecknold was honored with the Spencer Penrose National Coach of the Year Award, the College Hockey News National Coach of the Year as well as the ECAC Hockey Tim Taylor Coach of the Year Award.• To date, Pecknold features a career record of 465-277-85 and currently ranks sixth among all ac-tive NCAA Division I coaches in career victories.

BOBCAT BITES • Since Quinnipiac qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2012-13 through last season Quinnipiac had the second-most wins (109) among all NCAA Division I programs in the country.• This past season marked the Bobcats fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, as well as their second appearance in the NCAA Frozen Four and National Championship Game in the last four seasons. • In addition, the Bobcats captured their second-consecutive Cleary Cup, for the ECAC Hockey Regular-Season Championship, which was also their third in four seasons. • Quinnipiac also won its first-ever Whitelaw Cup after winning the league’s tournament champion-ship.• The Bobcats were also the first team since Michigan in 1997 to finish the year with just four losses for the season as Quinnipiac posted a 32-4-7 overall record as well as a 16-1-5 record in ECAC Hockey action.

ECAC HOCKEY TOURNAMENT• By virtue of a 13-8-1 record in ECAC Hockey, the Bobcats clinched the fifth seed and home ice for the first round of the 2017 ECAC Hockey Tournament and will host No. 12 seeded Brown in a best-of-three-games series on Mar. 3-5, 2017. Games 1 and 2 of the series will be played at 7 p.m. while Sunday’s Game 3, if necessary, will be played at 4 p.m. • Other first round match-ups include No. 11 Rensselaer at No. 6 Clarkson; No. 10 Colgate at No. 7 Princeton and No. 9 Dartmouth at No. 8 Yale. No. 1 Harvard, No. 2 Union, No. 3 Cornell and No. 4 St. Lawrence will host quarterfinal series on the following weekend with the semifinals and championship game to be played on Mar. 17-18 at the 1980 Rink - Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, New York.

ALL-TIME IN THE ECAC HOCKEY TOURNAMENT• Quinnipiac enters the 2017 ECAC Hockey Tournament with a record of 33-22 all-time since the Bobcats entered the league in 2005-06. • Quinnipiac has never lost an ECAC Hockey First Round series and stands at 14-2 all-time in the tournament’s opening slate. • Quinnipiac has won a playoff series in 18 consecutive seasons dating back to its first year at the NCAA Division I level in 1998-99. • The Bobcats are the only team in ECAC Hockey to win a postseason series in each of the 11 years that Quinnipiac has been a member of the league. • This season marks the first since 2011-12 that the Bob-cats did not receive a first-round bye. • This season marks the 11th straight year that the Bob-cats have hosted an ECAC Hockey Tournament series. The last time Quinnipiac finished outside of the top 8 was their inaugural season in 2005-06. • Quinnipiac took two-of-three against Cornell in the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals last season to advance to the league semifinals where it defeated Dartmouth, 3-1. The Bobcats made their second ECAC Hockey Championship appearance all-time, defeating Harvard, 4-1, to capture the program’s first Whitelaw Cup in school history.• 30 of Quinnipiac’s 33 ECAC Hockey Tournament wins have come when the Bobcats have scored three or more goals. vs. BROWN IN THE ECAC HOCKEY TOURNAMENT• This weekend’s series will mark the fourth time since Quinnipiac joined the 2005-06 that it will host Brown in the ECAC Hockey Tournament First Round. • Quinnipiac owns a 6-2-0 record all-time against the Bears, which includes a 4-0 loss in the 2013 ECAC Hock-ey Tournament Semifinals. • In 2008, Quinnipiac swept the Bears, 7-6 in overtime in Game 1, before taking a 7-1 decision in Game 2. • In 2011, Quinnipiac pitched back-to-back 4-0 shutouts to sweep that series. • In 2012, Quinnipiac lost Game 1, 4-1, before bouncing back with a 4-2 win in Game 2 and a 3-0 win in Game 3.

ACTIVE CAREER ECAC HOCKEY TOURNAMENT SCORING LEADERS• Connor Clifton is the Bobcats’ active career postseason leader in assists (9) and points (11) after he captured the tournament’s most outstanding performer honor with a goal and eight assists in the 2016 ECAC Hockey Tourna-ment. • Landon Smith sits at eight career postseason points by virtue of two goals and six assists. • Tim Clifton has scored three goals and assisted on three more for his career in the ECAC Hockey Tournament, fol-lowed by K.J. LANDON SMITH NOTES• Quinnipiac junior Landon Smith (Greenwood Village, Colorado) completed the regular season tied for the team lead in points (25) with sophmore Chase Priskie. • Smith’s 25 points come on the power of nine goals and 16 assists. • Smith was Quinnipiac’s only 20-point scorer in conference contests, as he scored a team-high eight goals to go along with 12 assists for 20 points in 22 ECAC Hockey games played. •Smith is the Bobcats active career leader in assists (57) to go along with his 36 career goals for 93 points through 116 games as a junior. • Smith boasts the team’s lone hat trick for the 2016-17 season after scoring three times in a 6-3 win against Dartmouth on Nov. 11. • He enters the postseason riding a three-game point streak in which he’s scored three goals and assisted on one more for four points. • In seven games for the month of February, Smith has three goals and four as-sists for a team-high seven points. • Smith currently ranks tied for 31st with 93 career points.• Smith’s 36 career goals are tied for 51st nationally.• His 57 assists rank tied for 57th nationally.• Smith’s 12 power-play goals rank tied for 40th among all DI skaters while his 10 game-winning goals rank tied for ninth. • Smith is one of 30 NCAA Division I skaters with 35 career goals and 50 career assists.

CHASE PRISKIE NOTES• Sophomore Chase Priskie (Pembroke Pines, Florida) checks-in with seven goals and 18 assists for the year, putting him in a tie with Landon Smith for the Bobcats’ point lead. • Priskie also leads the Bobcats in power-play assists (14) and power-play points (18).• The bulk of Priskie’s offensive numbers have come in the second half of the season in which he has totaled six goals and eight assists for 14 points in the Bobcats’ last 15 games. • In 22 ECAC Hockey games, Priskie’s 16 points were second in the Bobcats’ line-up, while his 13 assists matched Brogan Rafferty’s output for the team high.

BROGAN RAFFERTY NOTES• Quinnipiac freshman Brogan Rafferty (Dundee, Illinois) currently leads the Bob-cats with 21 assists while his two goals for the year also give him 23 points - good for second in Quinnipiac’s line-up. • Should Rafferty’s assist lead hold through the season, he would be the first Quinnipiac freshman to lead the team in helpers since Matthew Peca totaled 31 in 2011-12. • Rafferty would also be the fifth freshman in Quinnipiac’s NCAA Division I history to lead the team in assists, joining Peca, Bryan Leitch (31, 2005-06), Reid Cash-man (19, 2003-04) and Brian Herbert (32, 1999-00).

TIM CLIFTON NOTES• Quinnipiac senior assistant captain Tim Clifton (Matawan, New Jersey) is tied with Bo Pieper with a team-leading 12 goals to go-along with 10 assists for 22 points for the year. • Clifton, Pieper and Landon Smith have all scored a team-high eight goals against ECAC Hockey competition. • Seven of Clifton’s 12 goals have come on the power-play, good for the team lead in that category.• Clifton also leads Quinnipiac with a .591 (479-331) winning percentage in face-offs. • In addition, his 35 blocked shots leads all Quinnipiac forwards. • Tim Clifton currently ranks tied for 33rd among all NCAA Division I skaters with 92 career points. • Clifton’s 43 career points rank tied for 23rd among active players while his 49 career assists rank tied for 62nd. • Clifton is also one of 27 active players with 40 goals and 40 assists for his

BO PIEPER NOTES• Junior Bo Pieper (Roseville, Minnesota) entered the season with eight goals and 14 assists through his first two seasons with the Bobcats. As a junior this year, Pieper has scored a team-leading 12 goals while assisting on eight more for 20 points in 34 games played. • Pieper’s eight goals in ECAC Hockey play are tied for the team lead with Land-on Smith and Tim Clifton. • Quinnipiac is 11-0-1 in the 12 games in which Pieper has scored.• Pieper has four goals and four assists in 10 ECAC Hockey games on the Bob-cats’ home ice. • Pieper enters the weekend on a three-game point streak in which he’s scored twice and assisted on another. • Half of Pieper’s points have come in the second half of the season as he’s totaled six goals and four assists for 10 points in the last 15 games since Dec. 29, 2016.

K.J. TIEFENWERTH NOTES• K.J. Tiefenwerth’s (Bellmore, New York) assist on Alex Whelan’s goal against Brown on Saturday, Feb. 25 was his career-high 14th of the season. • Tiefenwerth now has two goals and 14 assists for 16 points for the year.• He’s also one of six players to dress for all 34 of Quinnipiac’s games this sea-son. • Quinnipiac is 11-0-1 when Tiefenwerth has an assist and 11-1-1 when he reg-isters a point.

CONNOR CLIFTON NOTES• Heading into the final weekend of January against Arizona State, Connor Clifton (Matawan, New Jersey) was riding an eight-game scoreless streak. Since then, he’s totaled two goals and four assists for six points in his last nine games to give him four goals and seven assists for the season. • Clifton’s 16 career goals and 53 career points are the most for any defenseman in the Bobcats’ line-up.

DEREK SMITH NOTES• Derek Smith (Apple Valley, Minnesota) has picked up 10 assists in 26 games played to date. • A senior captain, Smith’s 10 assists this season make him the eighth defense-man in Quinnipiac’s NCAA Division I era to hit double digits in helpers in three consecutive seasons. • Smith joins Matt Erhart (4x), Dan Ennis (4x), Reid Cashman (4x), Matt Sorte-berg (3x), Dan Henningson (3x), Zach Hansen (3x), Loren Barron (3x) and Dev-on Toews (3x).

KARLIS CUKSTE NOTES• First-year defenseman Karlis Cukste (Riga, Latvia) has contributed on both ends of the ice for the Bobcats, totaling 60 blocked shot - good for second in the line-up - while also scoring five goals and assisting on 10 more. • Cukste has been on the ice for a team-high 26 of Quinnipiac’s 65 even-strength goals while is +8 is second in the Bobcats’ line-up. • Against ECAC Hockey teams on his home ice, Cukste has scored twice and assisted on six more goals.

ANDREW SHORTRIDGE NOTES• Quinnipiac freshman goalie Andrew Shortridge (Anchorage, Alaska) enters the weekend at 9-5-0 with a .915 save percentage and a 2.16 goals-against average. • In 14 ECAC Hockey appearances, including nine starts, Shortridge is 7-2-0 with a .934 save percentage and a 1.74 goals against average. • In five starts at High Point Solutions Arena, Shortridge is 3-2-0 with a .932 save percentage and a 1.75 GAA. • Among all NCAA Division I goalies since Dec. 28, 2016, Shortridge ranks 7th in winning percentage (.750, 6-2-0), 4th in save percentage (.937) and third in goals-against average (1.67). Among ECAC Hockey goalies, only Harvard’s Mer-

rick Madsen has a better winning percentage, leaving Shortridge as the conference leader in the other two categories. • For the month of February, Andrew Shortridge led all ECAC Hockey goalies with a 1.78 GAA while going 4-1-0 with a .924 save percentage.• Shortridge was named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017.

ODDS AND ENDS • All four of freshman Nick Jermain’s (Cos Cob, Connecticut) goals have come in the Bobcats last six games. Jerman scored twice against Yale on Feb. 4 and once against RPI on Feb. 18. He closed out the regular season with a goal and an assist against Brown on Feb. 25. • Thomas Aldworth (Heller, Texas) enters the weekend on a three-game point streak in which he’s totaled two goals and an assist. For the year, Aldworth has seven goals and four assists. • Tanner MacMaster (Calgary, Alberta) enjoyed a solid February a goal and four points in seven games. For the year, MacMaster has seven goals and seven assists. • Kevin Duane (New Canaan, Connecticut) has five of his nine as-sists for the year in the Bobcats last six games including a pair of two-assist outings against RPI and Brown. • Kevin McKernan (Millbury, Massachusetts) enters the season with four goals and 10 assists as well as a team-leading +10.
