Memory pointsLocations you go tofrequently can be storedinto memory and markedon the map. The systemcan store up to 200 points. You can add icons at thememory points so that thesystem also displays theicons on the map.

Motorway-preference selectionWhen searching for routes with the navigationsystem, you can switch between searching forroutes that give priority to motorways and thosethat give priority to ordinary roads. When youspecify motorway preference, the navigationsystem automatically searches for a route thatgives priority to motorways and guides you alongthat route.

Navigation terminologyPreface

NavigationThe navigation system displays and tracks thevehicle’s position and movement on a movingmap display. When a destination is input, thenavigation system quickly calculates a route andguides you along the route with pictorial displaysand voice prompts.

Current vehicle positionThe navigation system integrates the GPS (GlobalPositioning Satellite) signals received and the mapinformation stored on the DVD ROM to display theposition and direction of the vehicle. The systemalso includes a gyroscope and a speed sensorthat enable it to display the present position evenin locations where the GPS signals may beblocked.

Memory point mark

Map matchingSince GPS navigation has an error of 100 – 655feet (30 m – 200 m), the position of your vehiclemay be displayed off the road. Map matchingautomatically corrects this error so that theposition of your vehicle is displayed on the road.

DestinationThe point on the map thatis your destination isspecified and displayedwith the destination icon. You can set up to 5destinations for the samejourney.

RouteWhen a destination isinput, the navigationsystem automaticallycalculates a route anddisplays it in blue on themap.
