September Behind the Wheel
Wow it’s September already, the mountain’s have gotten some snow and the leaves are
changing. The Rockies are doing great this season with the playoffs starting and the Broncos
start this month.
We remember two former Mile-High Section members with the passing of Dorn Green and
Don Nelson, the memories we share in conversations and in jokes with these two men. They
will be missed!
September 9th - Wine Tasting at Balistery Winery.
The New Members Picnic on September 16th this is open to all members. It is going to be
held at O’Kane park in Lakewood from noon to 4:00. The picnic is free for members who
have joined from October 2016 through September 2017, and $10.00 per person for all other
members. Please RSVP to Natalie Mashburn by September 11th. Her contact information is
[email protected] or (303) 988-2710.
Our Annual Membership Meeting will be held at Perfect Landing on October 7th elections
will be held for Officers and Board Members.
October 14th we have a Ghost Tour of downtown Denver with Banjo Billy’s bus tour
November 4th our second annual planning breakfast at Golden Corral in Englewood. Start
putting your ideas for next year’s events together and send me your ideas to
[email protected] and during our planning breakfast which is open to all
members we put everything together for 2018. We plan a Regional trip each year and these
take longer to put together so if you would like to plan something for summer for 2018 let us
know.

CHECK OUT THE MYTHICAL MERCEDES-BENZ S600
ROYALE FROM EVERY ANGLE
2017 PRICE $170,750
The Mercedes-Maybach S600 more or less sets the standard for what to be expected from a ultra-luxurious executive sedan—but apparently, even the new Maybach isn't not enough for someone. Someone is roaming around with what appears to be a mysterious custom Mercedes-Benz S-Class of sorts reportedly dubbed the "S600 Royale."
The S600 Royale seems to have been designed with the vintage fintail Mercedes-Benz S-Class in mind—think the W111 and W112 generations. Just, uh, with the addition of some headlights borrowed from the former Mercedes-Benz halo car, the SLS AMG. But unlike that gullwing sports car, this S600 is seriously square. Just look at that boxy hood and that incredibly square trunk.
Also, we can't ignore that interesting (and probably fake) radiator cap at the front of the grille, or those massive dished chrome wheels. Interesting choices there. But from what we can see of the interior, everything seems to be identical to a normal S-Class.
Interestingly enough, this isn't the first time this car has reared its head. From what we can tell, this appears to be the same car that we saw December 2015 featured in a video on Autojunk.nl. It's unclear who owns it, or even who made it—but whether you dig it or not, it's cool to see that whoever is the caretaker of this car, actually brings it out in the open every once in awhile.

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING INFORMATION
The by-Laws of the Mile High Section of the Mercedes Benz club require we hold an annual membership
meeting and elect Board of director members for the next 2 year term. The 2017 meeting will be held on Saturday
October 7th at the Perfect Landing Restaurant at the Centennial Airport . Please contact Michael Davisson to RSVP no
latter than October 1st for the dinner and meeting.
