MandateAct on behalf of the German Government to promote integrated ozone and climate protection in partner countries (in refrigeration, air conditioning and foam blowing sectors)

GIZ supports partner countries in introducing and disseminating environmentally friendly technology that neither harm the ozone layer nor contribute to global warming.

These technologies are energy efficient and use natural refrigerants.

The different projects are commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the International Climate Initiative of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB)

Purpose of NAMA Facility:

• Demonstrating a framework for providing tailor-made climate finance for developing countries in the field of mitigation.

• Building on existing support by funding the implementation of transformational NAMAs seeking international support, thus delivering concrete results on the ground.

• Raising ambition to close the global emissions gap and address the lack of NAMA climate finance.
