They interact with patients by explaining procedures and various positioning techniques necessary to produce quality images of the body. An extensive knowledge of radiography equipment is essential. With additional education, this program can be a stepping stone for careers in the related allied health professions, including radiation therapy, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, education, management, special procedures, computed tomography, mammography and magnetic resonance imaging. Admission to the Radiologic Technology program is competitive and based on specific requirements that can be obtained from attending a Health Information Program (HIP) Session. Upon graduation, students are eligible to take the official registry exam given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. The program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. Advanced certifications in Magnetic resonance Imaging (MRI) and Mammography are available.
