A few facts about the graduating class: 94 of them were members of the National Honor Society, 351 were listed on the honor roll, 90 percent of them are attending a 2 or 4-year college or technical/trade school and 2.2 per- cent joined the military. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors. The Seneca Valley School District held a retirement luncheon on June 11, 2013 to recognize the 27

individuals who retired at the conclusion of the school year. The school board, including Dr. Tracy

Vitale, superintendent of schools, congratulates the following retirees after a combined 641.5 years of

New for 2013-14 - Athletics Participation Check List

The Seneca Valley School District has changed its processes for students to sign-up

for any District athletic team. While some paperwork must be completed in paper

form, the majority of paperwork can now be processed electronically via pURL or

Parent Portal. Please see the step-by-step procedures for signing up your son/

daughter for athletic participation.

Tryouts/Practice

Any student-athlete (grades 7—12) interested in trying out for an interscholastic and/or club sport

team must meet all of the following requirements prior to participation in tryouts or practice:

1. pURL or Parent Portal SIGNATURES and INFORMATION RECORDED

Complete the following sections for each child under the “Athletic Forms” section of pURL

or Parent Portal. (Parent Portal located on homepage of District website: www.svsd.net)

Indicate which sports you intend to tryout/compete for

CIPPE Section 3: Understanding the Risk of Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury

Verification

CIPPE Section 4: Understanding of Sudden Cardiac Arrest Symptoms and Warning Signs

2 COMPLETE ALL HEALTH FORMS in PAPER FORM

First Sport: Complete the paper forms of PIAA-required Comprehensive Initial Pre-

Participation Physical Evaluation (CIPPE) form—Sections 1, 2, 5, & 6 for the first sport and

return to coach. Parents/guardians complete sections 1, 2, & 5. A private authorized medical

examiner or school doctor must complete section 6.

Any Additional Sport(s): Parents/guardians complete paper form of Section 7 of the PIAA-

required CIPPE form for each additional sport and return to coach. If Section 8 is required, it

must be completed by a licensed Physician of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine.

3 DRUG TEST

This must be done through the Seneca Valley School District, NOT a physician’s office and is

required only one time per year. Bring the following to the test date:

Completed Seneca Valley School District Drug Testing Parental Consent Form

Payment ($30) in the form of cash or check made payable to S.V.S.D.

4 ImPACT BASELINE CONCUSSION TEST

This must be done through the Seneca Valley School District, NOT at home or at a physician’s

office, and is required only one time per year. Testing dates will be announced prior to each fall,

winter, and spring season.

Participation in Practice and Games (following Tryouts)

Any student-athlete (grades 7-12) who successfully completes a tryout and is named to a District-

sponsored sport roster must meet the following additional requirements: (This does NOT apply to club

sports.)

1 PAY to PARTICIPATE

For District-sponsored sport teams, pay the respective “Pay to Participate” fee:

$125 Per Athletic Activity/Per Athlete (family cap of $325)

● Payment of fee is due prior to the first game of the season. Practice is permitted in the interim.

● Payments can be made at time of drug testing and combined (physical, drug testing, participa-

tion.)

● Payments may also be accepted at any time at the Athletic Office located in the Senior High

School.

SV looking for Tech Paraprofessional Seneca Valley has one permanent Computer Paraprofessional opening available at Evans City Ele-

mentary. Position Description: Computer hardware/software troubleshooting and repair; PC and basic

networking skills; experience with Windows 7 and Microsoft Office applications; provide first level

computer support to the building teachers and staff; ability to work independently; problem solving

skills; strong organization and time management skills. The rate is $11.01/hr; benefits not included

but there is an option to purchase if desired. Paraprofessionals work 182 days in the school year, but

this position may require additional summers hours as needed. Please submit a letter of interest and
