Do continue to listen to your child read daily, during term time and throughout the holidays. Surrey Libraries have launched their Summer Reading Challenge 2020Meet the Silly Squadso just click here to find out more. Annually about 80% of our children have joined in with this challenge—can we reach 90%? https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/ Please watch this very short film with your children and think about what the video is trying to show. https:// www.assemblies.org.uk/pri/3548/pause-for-thought-joy-in-kindness Then join me for my assembly by clicking on this link https://www.loom.com/share/9bddf385a2044fa4bbd955eb8566524f Phoebe in Y5 and Eli in Y2 both entered and won Surrey LibrariesReading Aloud summer 2020 competition in conjunction with Brooklands Radio and author Sarah Holding. We are currently trying to organise a virtual book tour which was part of the prize. Many congratulations to Phoebe and Eli. The last day of term for all children currently attending full-time ie Years R, 1, 6 and 5 (assuming that Ripley goes ahead), key worker & invited children will be Friday 17th July. During that week, the children in R, 1 and 5 will meet their new teachers at some point. The Year 6 children have now met with the Year 7 Howard staff. Then, in staggered sessions on the 20th July, children in Years 2, 3, and 4 have been invited to see each other, say goodbye to their current teachers and meet their new class teachers. Please refer back to the specific letter regarding attendance, for those children who are still learning from home in Years 2, 3 and 4. New Year R will also be visiting during the last week in their Nursery groups to see their classrooms and meet their teachers. Year 5 will also visit during that week, if we have been unable to proceed at Ripley; we hope this will not be the case. Sad staff news—Miss Bouchiba is leaving as she is moving to a school much closer to her home. We wish her well and thank her for her time with us. Mrs Paulson, Mrs Birch and Mrs Shapiro are also leaving in order to spend more time at home with their families. We thank them for their service to The Raleigh and hope that they will come back and visit—I know that Mrs Birch, for instance, has already offered to volunteer and come in next term to listen to readers. How kind…. Welcome to Miss Irwin and Miss Goldsbrough who are joining Years 3 and 6 respectively as teachers in training alongside the class teachers. Also we would like to welcome Miss Partridge as a new teacher in Year 4. Please see the classes and teachers for next year on page 2. Rainbow Bunting Teddy from YR Oak class has been making rainbow bunting to hang on the fence outside his house in Ripley. Teddy has worked so hard to colour, create and write messages on some of the bunting squares and then helped his mum to laminate them, there were 320 square in total!
