Rainscreen Cladding

General Description

Rainscreen cladding is a unique method of

cladding or over-cladding a building to provide weather protection

for the building fabric and structure.

Renowned for their ability to create a completely ‘flat’ surface,

rainscreen cladding systems are increasingly used on prestigious

new build projects where guaranteed long-term

performance and the aesthetics

of the building façade are of paramount importance.

Features

Excellent whole building lifecycle costs – durable and low maintenance system

Superior aesthetics – creates a perfectly ‘flat’ rigid building façade.

Easily integrates with building elements to create a ventilated

complete building façade.

Sustainable construction solutions.

Easily shaped and curved to create unique details.

Fixes to most rigid wall structures.

Thermal insulation easily incorporated.

Wide range of standard and non-standard colours.

Full carrier system detail and design.

Full range of accessories.

Available in flat, embossed and perforated cassette and flat panel formats.

Fully integrated bullnose, column casings and perimeter detail availability.

Case Studies - Sector – Education

Sussex University - Brighton

Bailey deep, horizontal soffits combined with louvred panels were installed internally as

a feature of the main concourse as well as being used to create an external feature canopy.

With such extensive area of soffit, specifying Bailey Cassette system was key to ensuring flat

soffits without visible fixings or quilting.

Case Studies – Sector – Leisure

Little Venice London

The architect required products that were eco-friendly and adaptable to enable

the building to complement the immediate surroundings and be as unobtrusive as possible.

Bailey rainscreen cassette cladding system was ideal for this application,

providing an aluminium secret fix system that was suitably covered in a polyester powder coated finish,

while being supported on a Bailey carcassing framework.

The eaves are one of the key features of a buildings architecture, it provides the important

line that heads the elevation, helping to bring together many visual elements and forming

the junction between walls and roof. Significantly, the eaves are also where rainwater

is channelled from the roof, as well as protecting and shading the walls,

windows and doors underneath.

NBS SPECIFICATION CLAUSE H92

110 ALUMINIUM RAINSCREEN CLADDING

Rainscreen Cladding System

Aluminium panels with interlocking joints and secret fixing.

Complete system includes Bailey Support Carcassing for suspension from primary building structure, ensuring correct alignment and adjustability.

Panel stiffness and flatness is ensured by interlocking joints on all edges, lateral stiffeners attached to back of panel and choice of metal gauge to suit panel width.

Panels typically span between Carcassing fixing points with long axis parallel to building

elevation. Other support arrangements are feasible.

Supplied in 3 m lengths as standard. Optimum widths are: 0.6 m, 0.83 m and 1 m (maximum). Choice of special sizes, shapes, flat or curved section.

Powder coated finish with choice of colour. Applied in-house with thirty year guarantee available on application, subject to location.

Interlocking joints compatible with Bailey Fascia System.

Suitable for use with Bailey Carcassing or Laser-Line Carcassing Systems.

Detail design service available from supplier. Installation by recommended subcontractors

FINISH/COLOUR

NOTE: Various options available on request.

As a standard, only visible faces are polyester powder coated. Some severe

industrial or marine locations may require coating to reverse side of some

components. Bailey Technical Department should be consulted in these situations.

Polyester powder coated to colour and gloss level selected from the manufacturer’s Akzo Nobel

Interpon D103 standard range. Polyester powder coating is to be electrostatically applied at

the manufacturer’s in-house plant to conform to BS EN 12206:2004 Part 1 and Qualicoat Class

1 standards.

Pre-treatment of the aluminium is to produce no environmentally harmful effluent and conform

To European standards.

Test samples are to be retained and results submitted to the architect if requested.

Tests to be applied as a minimum are:

1. 1000 hour salt spray test for chemical resistance. Result: No blistering, softening or detachment of the coating.

2. Impact resistance test using 0.908kg weight from 0.25 high. Result: No cracking or detachment of the coating.

3. Permeability test (2 hour pressure cooker). Result: No blistering or detachment of the coating.

4. Adhesion test using 2mm cross hatch.

Result: No flaking or removal of the coating.

5. Flexibility test using 20mm mandrell. Result: No cracking or detachment of the coating.

6. Cure test using MIBK solvent. Result: No removal of the coating or significant softening of the film

7. Film thickness. Result: Average minimum thickness to be 60 microns with no reading less than 50 microns.

Specification

Accessories :- Factory fabricated corner panels, mitres, trims to openings etc.

Design

The installing sub contractor, in conjunction with manufacturer is to provide a full design

service. Full working drawings are to be submitted for architects approval prior to manufacture. As a minimum, these should include:

a) Elevational views showing panel layouts with all joints, junctions etc. suitably indicated.

b) Cross section detail of typical panel configuration including method of support and

fixings to be used.

Each component to be part numbered and cross referenced between section drawings and

elevational/layout drawings.

Packaging

All components are to be fully wrapped and protected. Bundles should be no larger than can be handled by one person to ensure transfer to point of installation in original packaging. In

the case of large of heavy items, these should be clearly marked with the appropriate warning and approximate weight.
