Similarly, Allah’s mercy, blessings and rewards are raining upon us in Ramadan, a month that won’t return for a full year when gone. Can we guarantee we shall live till tomorrow, let alone till next Ramadan? The beatings of our heart tells us our lives are just minutes and seconds. Let us wake up, make a plan to take advantage of this gold rush, and I promise by the last day of Rama-dan you will smile happily, because in sha Allah you will be one of those saved from the fire.

We welcome you to join us at MAC Islamic Cen-tre for Ramadan, enjoying your prayers with Sh. Miftah, along with the many programs for fami-lies, kids, youth, brothers & sisters.

Sh. Bassam FaresExecutive Director

WelcomingRAMADANBrothers & Sisters, Sons & Daughters, As-Salamu Alaikum.

The Prophet (pbuh) would congratulate his companions at the entrance of Ramadan, and say “Ramadan has arrived - it is a noble month! Allah has pre-scribed fasting it; in it, the gates of heaven are opened, the gates of hell are locked, and the devils are chained up. There is a night in it that is better than a thousand months - whoever misses out on its good has truly missed out.”

The days, nights, hours, minutes and seconds of Ramadan are priceless in our journey to Allah. Let’s not waste them by being in a state of heedlessness. If it were to rain gold & silver for five minutes, what would we do? Would we continue what we were doing, or would we rush to grab as much as possible?

Will we finish the Qur’an? Yes, in sha Allah. Shaikh Miftah will be doing khatm.

May I socialize at Rahma? Definitely, this is a place to catch up with friends, however there is a right time for everything. We ask you do not do so during prayers and pro-grams, and observe basic gender etiquette. What about food? We have daily potluck iftars. In addition, we provide suhoor in the last 10 days, prepared and served by our incredible youth team. We also are selling snacks and food at night - all proceeds go to the mosque.

The mosque is dirty! We are a collective, with everyone’s efforts pooled together to build this beautiful nation. Your feedback, or you jumping at the chance to clean will not go unnoticed by Allah.

What about electronics? We will be setting electronics aside during youth programs and kindly request everyone turn them off or on silent.

I can’t pray this long, just want to chill on the side with friends!Sure, while not disturbing others during prayers or talks. For kids under 8 and youth under 15, we have targeted programs.

What about my young kids or siblings? We have mandatory baby-sitting for kids under 8 years of age.

I have suggestions, want to help, or complain!Find anyone in our office to talk to after prayers,or email us at [email protected]

Ramadan ChecklistIn the next page, you will find a checklist to help you keep track of yourself. We have outlined how to score yourself, along with options to make it a bit more challenging. The Prophet (pbuh) mentioned that the most beloved deeds to Allah are the consistent ones, so we encourage simplicity. Please ask our imams for advice on any of the items.

You may set your own criteria, knowing your challenges.

Pray: For every prayer on time. (Challenge: Pray early.)Fast: For every day of fasting. (Challenge: Suhoor. Eating less at Iftar. Wasting Food)Quran: ____ lines every day. (Challenge: Read the meaning. Ask about verses’ explanation(s).)Family: Be good to parents (call/visit daily?). Spend time with spouse. Go to mosque as a fam-ily. (Challenge: mend relations with those you fell out with.)Tongue: Dock points for every angry, hurtful, sinful phrase. Give points for forcibly restraining. (Challenge: Do not mention others’ names in absence.)Eyes: Dock points for gazing. Give points for forcibly restraining. (Challenge: Include movies, TV, social media, internet in gaze restraint.)Sunnah Prayers: Give points for every one.Charity: Give something (even a penny) daily.Mosque Prayers: Points for every prayer in congregation at mosque. Tarawih: Points for every raka’ah of tarawih.

Some sayings of the Prophet (pbuh) Related to these:

- “Spend, O Son of Adam, and I shall Spend on You”- “Prophet Muhammad was asked: “Which of the actions is best?” He replied: “Observing prayer early in its period.”- “Let whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day either speak good or remain silent.”- “Verily the one who recites the Qur’an beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses, then he will have TWICE that

“ The Prophet (pbuh) said, “Ramadan has come to you. (It is) a month of blessing, in which Al-lah covers you with blessing, for He sends down Mercy, decreas-es sins and answers prayers. In it, Allah looks at your competition (in good deeds), and boasts about you to His angels. So show Allah goodness from yourselves, for the unfortunate one is he who is de-prived in (this month) of the mercy of Allah, the Mighty, the Exalted.” - Tabarani
