Issues to press on

• RAPHEX: a source of important revenue.• Communication with regulators. Help us

professionally by us being more informed with the ever-changing regulatory environment.

• Codify and standardize rules. No need for each new board to “re-invent the wheel”.

• Press on with some of Jenghwa’s initiatives.

RAPHEX• Howard Amols is the new Chief Editor.• In search for Diagnostic Editor.• Challenge with preparing the Diagnostic Physics exam to

better prepare radiology residents for the “EOF”. • Would like to setup monthly meetings between the

editorial staff of Raphex and the RAMPS board, outside our scheduled board/seminar meetings. – The editoral staff will inform the board on the progress and

potential problems.– The board will offer their help in resolving issues and, if

necessary, rally the RAMPS membership to contribute and edit new questions .

Petrone-Astarita Initiative• “This is a request to the RAMPS board to form a committee

whose purpose is to establish and implement a mechanism to communicate with the NY City Department of Health’s Office of Radiological Health. The committee would meet on a regular basis with the ORH and report the results to the RAMPS board. Issues to discuss would include all pertinent to the practice of medical physics in an environment that is regulated by ORH. These include but are not limited to regulatory, administrative, enforcement, technical standards, educational, etc. The committee should consist of representatives from each subspecialty of medical physics(i.e. diagnostic, oncology, nuclear, health physics).”

• The majority of the RAMPS membership has frequent and direct contact with the city regulators and is directly impacted by changes in the regulatory environment.

• It should be very beneficial for RAMPS to re-establish communication with ORH, inform the membership about upcoming changes in the “Bureau” and let our views known to the regulators as well.

Communication with other AAPM Chapters – Standardizing Processes

• Recent email by Martin Fraser NEAAPM to codify and standardize operating procedures.

• Present and future board will benefit with written and standardized rules and procedures, in addition to the Bylaws, that govern more mundane questions such as structure and venue of meetings, speaker reimbursement, payment of dues, attendance to meetings and new membership requirements.

• Joint seminars with neighboring chapters (NJ, CT).

Jenghwa’s initiatives

• Get more young members involved in the process. Delegate specific tasks to them. More staff to be done by more people.

• Rely on AAPM electronic services for posting meetings and other announcements, informing membership, collecting dues etc.

• Streamlining CAMPEP process: registering for and releasing of credits; no need for paper form distributed during meetings.

• Pre-paying for meetings as a way to register (PayPal). More exact estimate of attendance needed to budget out meetings. More efficient collection of meeting registration fees.

“The major feature that separates SBRT from conventional radiation

treatment is the delivery of large doses in a few fractions, which results in

a high biological effective dose BED. In order to minimizethe normal tissue toxicity, conformation of high doses to thetarget and rapid fall‐off doses away from the target is critical.The practice of SBRT therefore requires a high level of confidencein the accuracy of the entire treatment delivery process.

Why StereotacticBRT?

– Because in the PAST:

• Use was made of a Stereotactic

Body Frame which acted as a

reference system external to the patient’s body , which when

imaged with the patient in place, made it possible for the

three stereotactic

coordinates of the target to be precisely

calculated.

• The SBF then acted as an effective immobilization device, as

well as a stereotactic

localizer and setup/targeting frame.

• 70 individual paid attendees.• About twelve student attendees.• Eight participating companies.• So, a total attendance of close to 100!• We grossed about $8,400 after the PayPal

fees came

off.• As per our treasurer, Rob Barish: “for the first time, I

think we came out ahead on money, in no small part due to
