“Dig into Reading” this summer as the library offers more than 100 storytimes, performances, hands-on activities, movies and more for children, teens and adults. And it’s all FREE! The 2013 Summer Reading Program runs June 10-August 3. Children can sign up to tracks books, hours or pages read in return for reading rewards, and teens and adults can register for prizes and giveaways. Children: Dig into Reading Two big events for children and parents will anchor the program: popular local educator/entertainer Fish the Magish will perform at all seven libraries during June; and kid-oriented, parent-friendly rockers Big Bang Boom will take the stage at six of the libraries during July. Meanwhile, the libraries will feature performers and educators such as famed children’s author/illustrator Ashley Bryan (Asheboro) and Steve Somers, The Amazing Teacher (Liberty and Randleman), and all kinds of special guests. Lego Mania joins hobbits, pirates, robots, snakes, fossils, volcanoes and more. Asheboro will offer lessons on how to draw pirates and how to make bamboo robots, while teens in Randleman can join in weekly science-themed events.
