ATBifoVote negative to reject the 1AC. The economy and global capital are crumbling around us - we should use the collapse as a site for organizing affective singularity outside of the realm of economicsBifo 2011(Franco Berardi, Professor of Social History and Communication at the Academia di belle Arti in Milan and Founder of A/Traverse, After the Future, ed. Genesko%26Thoburn, AKPress, p. 147-54)

Activism has generally conceived the should be considered an unending process.

It's a supposedly very complex argument about what Baudrillard calls the Code and semiotic investment in capitalismit basically boils down to academia bad and so academia good is responsive. Cap good is responsive too, unless your Aff has already forgone that route.

The card itself says that semiotic (IE mental) investments in activism/consciousness raising accelerate our personal investment in the capitalist system through attempts to change it. It then makes a Baudrillard-esque argument about why we need a fatal strategy (in this case Bifo advocates exhaustion, which means complete disinvestment in the semiotic system of capitalism and as such activism and debate, and in the real world something much like a 'general strike') because supposedly trading activism for a ballot props up capitalism. Twisted logic, I understand, but this is what you get from cutting from esoteric Italian political philosophers talking about Baudrillard and then making the transition to debate.

For academia good/right forum args, it depends on your aff, but in general Giroux writes a lot of good cardslook for the article that has a title like 'Occupy the University' or something like that

Then you can read Baudrillard indicts, ballot good, cap good if applicable, and just generally take down Baudrillard's fatal strategy in general.

Well, Bifo is cool with like Occupy and movements when their aim is like the end of work for example, so he's cool with some activism, but he isn't cool coupling anticapitalism activism with the forum of something like debate... When i say academia bad I mean args more like ballot commodification, and generally emotional and psychic investment in a system based upon use of activism/subversive knowledge production for competitive reasons, if that makes sense

Idk if you've seen the old Baudrillard shells that are like activism on the plane of the Real bad (on my phone rn so can't pull it up sorry), and that cards that's floating around cut from the Spirit of Terrorism that K Affs are using to answer FW, but the argument as I've seen it run generally centers around less terrorism good/we take the ballot as hostage and more that exhaustion is a fatal strategy which "triggers a symbolic trap in the system" by disinvesting in the power of debate to generate or further activism (parallel to a strike in which we just stop working) we show how hollow the system is and thus symbolically destroy it

To answe martyp, I can't explain it in great detail, because the geniuses who theorized this crap (Baudrillard and Bifo) never get more specific than how I was up there, but I think the arg is pretty simple, just that debate is a form of semiocapitalism (trading knowledge for ballots) and when we try to say "cap is bad" inside such a system we fail to see our own complicity in a mirror system, and therefore we have to just leave the system and let it collapse by itself

LoyolaTheir reliance on economic rationality presupposes a neoliberal form of subjectivity that they superimpose upon the world in order to justify mass violence and homogenization. This also makes transition wars and economic collapse inevitable, as it fails to understand how the crucial problem today is one of symbolic exchange. Against this, we should withdraw from necronomics.Bifo 11 (Franco, After the Future, ed. Genesko & Thoburn, AKPress, p. 141-7)

More than ever, economic rationality fabric of language and imagination.

As capitalism withers away we must save desire and autonomy by withdrawing from impositions like the maintenance of a neoliberal subject. We must use the current recession as an opportunity to proliferate singularities as self creative processes capable of retaining value and sustaining freedom.Bifo 11 (Franco, After the Future, ed. Genesko & Thoburn, AKPress, p. 147-54)

The 1AC was a virtual presentation of a world improved through an imaginary strategy of economic engagement. This is pan-capitalism- virtualized exchange value prescribed to commodities in order to guarantee economic comfort through systems of capital. This process of virtualization is life negating and anti-political, as it makes the implosion of these economic systems inevitable through a process of fascistic consumption The 1AC is a battery plugged into the machine of digital capitalism. Think about the form of their argument; the presentation of the 1AC was a face-down reading of economics literature at a hyper-fast pace off of the bright digital computer screen where they store information. This reduces the body to a mechanic instrument used for data storage and extraction by the system of virtual capitalism and destroys all political subjectivity The way the system of exchange operates is through the invasion of the field of communication, which reduces the affirmative to a commodity in a state of standing-reserve to be used by the economic system. This is the foundation for modern violence- the circulation of pancapitalism creates a system of relationality that is dependent on violent consumption and technologizes every facet of existence Vote negative to reject the 1AC. Instead of further investing ourselves into the realm of virtualized production, the alternative is a momentary diversion from neoliberalism on the level of the social. This is an affective singularity that allows an analysis of individual complicity in systems of capitalism, which creates a reconceptualization of the internal desire for commodity production- only this solves The plan is an act of colonization that extends the space of the virtual economy in order to maintain the sovereignty of pan-capitalism. Their politics are always already determined by technocratic state elites which make structural violence, military intervention, and the death of political subjectivity inevitable

Oklahoma KThe affirmative's neoliberal rationality attempts to molarize an image of the proper subject that locks the soul into stasis and guarantees economic collapse and transition wars - the impact is social deathBifo 2011(Franco Berardi, Professor of Social History and Communication at the Academia di belle Arti in Milan and Founder of A/Traverse, After the Future, ed. More than ever, economic rationality fabric of language and imagination.

This focus on rational economic science has created a bloodthirsty form of capitalism that erases affective engagements with desire and makes violence inevitable - neoliberalism constantly produces crisis to rationalize its capacity for control - this makes the destruction of all life the very impulse of the economy Wiltgen 2005(James, Professor of History and Critical Theory at CalArts, "Sado-Moneatrism or Saint Fond Saint Ford", in Consumption in the Age of Information, ed. How does digital capitalism intertwine their dense and complex oscillations.

Emporia The economic crisis was precipitated by a high produced by the Prozac culture in its attempt to resolve depression - Affect is the cause of the depression and the affirmative's attempt to use amphetamines will only magnify the impact. The affirmative breaks down the distinction between social/cognitive and economic labor - the knowledge they produce is introduced into a knowledge economy of representation that inevitable erupts into unpredictable and violent revolt - that paralyzes cognition.
