CIOF 2015, the 28th China International Optics Fair, shall continue the legend in making breakthroughs and presenting the latest
worldwide and Chinese cutting-edge products and technology in front of buyers from all over the world in the autumn. The leading
annual optical exhibition of China as well as Asia is scheduled to be held on September 9 - 11, 2015 at the China international
Exhibition Centre, Beijing.
CIOF is endorsed by the Ministry of Commerce of China as one of their 108 recognized distinguished exhibitions. It is also one of the
best 10 exhibitions recognized by the China National Light Industry Council. Last but not least, it is a recognized exhibition of the
Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce.
China is “Factory of the World”, and with her accession to WTO, she has attracted all the reputed international eyewear brands & optical
equipment manufacturers to tap this gigantic market. On a macro level, according to International Monetary Fund (IMF), in the past
decades China’s rapid pace of industrialization has induced enormous growth in GDP, and culminated in her 2013 GDP value of US$17.6
trillion, surpassing US$17.4 trillion of the USA and become the world’s largest economic entity. IMF further estimated that by 2019
China’s GDP level will be at US$26.98 trillion, overriding that of the USA by 20%!
On a micro level pertaining to the Chinese optical scene, currently about 700 million among the country’s population of 1.4 billion
require visual correction, which is equivalent to the total population of Europe; among whom, 50 million – mostly women, are wearing
contact lens. Hence, the quest for high quality eyewear, associated equipment and technology is de#nite. Actually, the distinctive
success of CIOF 2014 fully mirrored this : we had 804 exhibitors in total, including 237 international exhibitors and 567 Chinese
exhibitors, with 915 Chinese & 275 global brands from 22 countries and regions on display in the mega gross exhibition area of 55,000
square metres. All CIOF editions excel in the number of brands & the showcasing of hi-tech equipment. And some 60,000 buyers from
63 countries and regions attended CIOF 2014. All that was self-explanatory and CIOF 2015 can only be better, reasserting invincibility of
the Chinese optical market.
China has now become the largest and most in*uential optical market in the world：According to 2014 customs #gures, the #rst 6
months witnessed Chinese optical exports (excluding equipment) amounting to a value of US$2.439 billion, depicting an increase of
10.88% over 2013’s #rst 6 months. Likewise, 2014’s Chinese optical imports of the #rst 2 quarters generated a value of US$477 million,
demonstrating an increase of 16.68% over the same period in 2013.
To elaborate, CIOF 2015 will display and demonstrate the latest optical products, ranging from spectacle frames, sunglasses, lenses to
contact lenses, from visual test equipment, machinery and raw materials for making spectacle frames and lenses to instruments for
optometry and ophthalmology, including but not limited to measurement instruments for optical elements and systems, low vision
testing equipment, opto-laser equipment, surface treatment systems and ophthalmic products. We have also extended our specialties
to the realm of optical software too!
