“THE FAST LOOK”
While the anticipation of Spring drags through endless months of Winter; Summer seems to sprint by. As we decade-skip through the minimalism of the 90’s and into the future, there is something intoxicating about that sense of speed. This is The Fast Look!
The racer-striped knits point you in the right direction, while graphic color-block dresses are as bold and eye-catching as a Stop-sign. “Pay attention pinks” and “Go greens” are so bright - ignore them and you are left lost in the slipstream
There are colors to keep you cool: white, vanilla, citron, highlighter-summer green, cobalt and deep blue; and colors to compete with the scorching heat: dusty rose, sesame, pumpkin and neon-hot pink.
But there is more to this summer sport than the perforated leather tanks, handcrafted weaved macrames, broad stripes and splash prints. There are the inevitable beasts! Ours, are seductive snake-printed chiffons, both sheer and micro-pleated; at best when teamed with white leather. Then comes the abstracted navy and white zebra print crossing kaftans, column skirts and sharp shirting.
Tailoring is structured and streamlined, stripped of superfluous detailing, arriving at the essential forms. There is a long white sleeveless and button-less coat in linen canvas, while a long sleeved version snaps shut with 2 easy locks. Zip-through leather and canvas coat- dresses make their statement. A cropped, double-breasted jacket with or without sleeves has the perfect stand away collar. The simplest of hooded jackets is feather light. A butter leather handkerchief cape offers the perfect cover. A canvas tunic is attached to its shorts, while an A - line skirt has a ‘zip-on-or-off’ leather racer tank.
Sitting high on the waist, trousers fit and flare, or taper down to the ankle. The essential shorts are in silk, perforated leather or printed pique. Skirts and dresses race high above the knee, graze the lower shins and eventually the ankles in fluid silk Georgette and billowing Chiffon, sometimes suspended by a leather choker or a sturdy metal necklace.Signature sharp shirts and shirt dresses are all there; in classic white and navy as well as in refreshing new combinations: vanilla with summer green, citrus lemon with sorbet white and cobalt blue with white or cocoa brown.
Beyond the clarity and uniformity of the blue or white, there should be humor and daring in this speed traveller’s simplified wardrobe. Monochromes aside, there is a color-coded courage for fast-thinking combinations of color and co-ordinating prints in the separates.
Accessories:Razor-thin belts cut through the middle of over-sized buckles. The broader ones snap shut with circular chrome locks. This hardware also features on several bags such as our updated Janice and Saddle bags in pumpkin, hot pink and dusty rose. Clutches are white and square with a contrasting strap closure. .A super-slim rectangular clutch converts easily into a shoulder bag with a barely-there shoulder strap.� The back pack makes its come back in an over-sized canvas version. A flat rectangular tote comes in its simplest but most elegant form.
Key bags are in white, navy, brandy and pumpkin leather with a few surprises in neon leather.
Shoes range in height and style to suit the varying pace of this race: there is an ultra-flat corded sandal, a mid height platform sandal, a high block heel shoe and a lace-up perforated leather low-heeled shoe.
