Tiger’s Roar is an independent student news outlet at Savannah State University. Though housed in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications at the university, the multimedia news outlet is open to any student- no matter age, gender, major or classification - as an opportunity to practice reporting, writing and news production. The paper is fully produced by students: students report and write stories, edit them, layout the print editions, update the website and sell advertising. The print edition is published and distributed three times a semester (six times a year). The current version of Tiger’s Roar was started in 2012; though, the paper has been in existence since the 1940s. The circulation of the publication is 1,500 and the news website attracts an average of 200 unique visitors daily.
