10 As it is written:“There is no one righteous, not even one; 11 there is no one who understands;
there is no one who seeks God.
ROMANS 3: 10 - 12
12 All have turned away,they have together become
worthless;there is no one who does good,
not even one.”
ROMANS 3: 10 - 12
2 Hear me, you heavens! Listen, earth!For the LORD has spoken:
“I reared children and brought them up,but they have rebelled against me.
3 The ox knows its master,the donkey its owner’s manger,
but Israel does not know,my people do not understand.”
11 Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons.12 The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.
13 “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living.
13 “Not long after that, the younger songot together all he had, set off for adistant country and there squanderedhis wealth in wild living.14 After he hadspent everything, there was a severefamine in that whole country, and hebegan to be in need.
15 So he went and hired himself outto a citizen of that country, whosent him to his fields to feedpigs. 16 He longed to fill his stomachwith the pods that the pigs wereeating, but no one gave him anything.
9 For this reason, since the day weheard about you, we have notstopped praying for you. Wecontinually ask God to fill you withthe knowledge of his will throughall the wisdom and understandingthat the Spirit gives,
10 so that you may live a lifeworthy of the Lord and pleasehim in every way: bearing fruit inevery good work, growing in theknowledge of God,
10 My son, if sinful men entice you,do not give in to them.
11 If they say, “Come along with us;let’s lie in wait for innocent
blood,let’s ambush some harmless soul;
12 let’s swallow them alive, like the grave, and whole, like those who go down to the pit;13 we will get all sorts of valuable things
and fill our houses with plunder;
14 cast lots with us;we will all share the loot”—
15 my son, do not go along with them, do not set foot on their paths;
9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
20 So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
18 Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion.For the LORD is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for him!
QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION AND DISCUSSION:
1. Did you have a season of rebellion? How did God bring you back?
2. Above all else, what is the one big thing you will take away from this study?
