WEEK 9

INJUSTICE

When we treat the vulnerable unequally and treat them as second class citizens, we commit the sin of injustice. Jeremiah 6:13 warns us that “. . . from the least to the greatest of them, everyone is greedy for unjust gain.” With God on our side, we can defeat injustice.

PRAYER POINTS:• Repent on behalf of this nation for all the

injustices that have taken place in our land (historical, against the vulnerable, against the marginalized)

• Pray that our hearts will be sensitive to those who are treated unjustly and that we will have courage to act.

• Pray that the church of Jesus Christ in Kenya will continue to be sensitive to the plight of the vulnerable in our communities.

WEEK 10

JUSTICE

When we come together as a church and give food to the hungry and assist the poor, we render justice to the vulnerable. Psalm 106:3 reminds us that “Blessed are those who act justly...” Our actions toward these vulnerable communities affirm what we sing on our national anthem, that “justice be our shield and defender.”

PRAYER POINTS:• ank God that RBC has been able to

respond justly to the needs around the nation.• Pray that we will always be available as a

church and as believers to the needs that God will bring our way.

• Pray for Kenya’s court system and our newly appointed Chief Justice, that justice will be speedily delivered to all in our court system.

ISAIAH 58 CHALLENGERead Isaiah 58 for 30 days in a row. We believe that this exercise will transform the way you view true God-pleasing worship in a big way. Please share your thoughts on our website and on Whatsapp.

MESSAGE FROM THE INTERCESSORY MINISTRYIt has been said that prayer is a conversation with God and not to God. In this conversation, we ask in faith and in accordance with God’s will, that He will hear our cries and respond (Matthew 21:22). With this in mind, the Mkenya Halisi study should cause us to self-introspect, in prayer, on the areas highlighted in the study.

As we pray, we can expect to see a transformation in our nation, a nation where God is honoured and sin is shunned and generations that will come after us, will testify that we were faithful with the things that God entrusted to us. Let us start by making a personal commitment in prayer, to honour God and not man, and to walk in the paths of justice and righteousness.

WEEK 1

CORRUPTION

Proverbs 14:34 “Righteousness makes a nation great, but sin diminishes any people.” e sin of corruption has diminished the promise of our nation Kenya and brought as low as a people. It takes food from the mouth of the hungry and subverts justice. Deut.16:19.

PRAYER POINTS:• Repent for turning a blind eye to

corruption and where you have engaged in it.

• Pray that God will awaken the hearts of the people to the destruction brought about by corruption.

• Pray for Eliud Wabukala who currently heads the EACC, and for the anti-corruption institutions.

WEEK 3

NEGATIVE ETHNICITY

We have come to despise, and even attack our neighbors from other ethnic groups. James 2:8-9 reminds us to “... love your neighbor as yourself.” Our love for God is shown when we choose to love one another, regardless of our ethnic backgrounds.

PRAYER POINTS:• Seek forgiveness for ethnic superiority and

making other ethnic groups feel inferior to others.

• Pray that hardened hearts that have been made to feel inferior/superior will be healed by the love of Jesus.

• Pray that our nation will choose to cultivate a culture that celebrates ethnic diversity, and that the TJRC will be successful in their mandate.

WEEK 2

INTEGRITY

e book of Daniel teaches us that it is possible to lead a life of integrity in a hostile and corrupt environment. e beauty of integrity is the security one has in the Lord, Proverbs 10:9. “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.”

PRAYER POINTS:• Pray that you will be strengthened and

encouraged to lead a life of integrity in our nation.

• Prayer for integrity at every level of governance in the nation.

• Pray for integrity in the August elections Luke 16:10.

WEEK 4

UNITY

When singing the National Anthem, we ask God that we “dwell in unity.” We demonstrated we can do this and put our differences aside after the terrible tragedy at Westgate. 1 Corinthians 1:10 tells us to “be united in the same mind and the same judgement…” because when we are united, it becomes easier to move forward as a nation.

PRAYER POINTS:• Pray that the Holy Spirit helps us walk with

the same mind and purpose as a nation.• Pray that our church (RBC) will choose to

walk in unity as believers.• Pray that the churches in Kenya will be the

salt and light of our nation.

WEEK 5

INDIVIDUALISM

Mwalimu Julius Nyerere once referred to Kenya as a man eat man society; then Kenyan AG retorted, that Tanzania was a man eat nothing society. Luke 12:15 “en he said to them, Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

PRAYER POINTS:• Confess where we have been

overwhelmed by our desire to acquire and consume more than we need while others go without basic needs.

• Pray that God will grant us hearts that are concerned about those who lack and that rest on Him as an all sufficient provider.

WEEK 7

GREED

In Nairobi, someone can be robbed in the full view of others without any intervention. As long as we are not directly affected, we do not bother with our neighbor’s plight. Philippians 2:4 “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”

PRAYER POINTS:• Confess to God for having an

individualistic outlook.• Confess to God where your business and

social ventures have been motivated by greed.

• Pray for our nation that we will serve one another, and that our elections will not be defined by greed buy by a desire to serve.

WEEK 6

CORPORATE RESPONSIBILTY

Ecclesiastes 4:9 tells us that “two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.” We are better and stronger together when we unite as individuals and as a church, and partner with God for a better Kenya and a better future. Greed is the enemy of the prayer that “plenty be found in our borders” for everyone.

PRAYER POINTS:• Pray that as Kenyans we will see the need

to work together in order to improve the lives of all Kenyans.

• Pray for wisdom, compassion, and willingness for each of us to do our part for a better Kenya.

• at we would be good stewards of our country resources that God has blessed us with.

WEEK 8

EQUITY

In Mkenya Halisi Equity is defined as fair access to resources for all people. 2 Corinthians 8:15 “as it is written: "e one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little."

PRAYER POINTS:• ank God for what He has blessed you

with and that you may be a good steward of these things.

• Pray that there will be equal resource distribution by the national government.

• Pray that our land and nation would prosper so that there are more opportunities for all Kenyans.

• Pray that God would grant all Kenyans a heart that desires to see others Kenyans prosper.
