Our commitments to the residents of CAGE GREEN BE PROUD OF CAGE GREEN Keeping the local communities in Cage Green clean and tidy is a priority for us. We keep an eye out for roads in need of a sweep but always welcome residents making us aware of litter and graffiti. After we reported the redundant telephone box on The Ridgeway, BT agreed to remove it. We will continue to support residents with their own litter picks such as those arranged by the Woodland Walk Residents’ Group. CAMPAIGNING TO MAKE OUR ROADS SAFE FOR ALL We know that speed enforcement on local roads such as The Ridgeway, Shipbourne Road and Whistler Road is important to local residents. Finding permanent solutions is a frustration but we will continue to work with the Police and Kent Highways to make safer roads for our communities. We were pleased to have secured the necessary funding for a safe crossing on The Ridgeway a number of year ago. We will now keep the pressure on Kent County Council to provide a much needed safe crossing between York Parade and Sainsbury’s on Shipbourne Road. PROTECTING NORTH TONBRIDGE FROM UNNECESSARY DEVELOPMENT The Borough Council has now adopted its Local Plan which will be examined at a Public Inquiry later this year. There was a proposal for housing on Grange Farm but we are pleased that the Borough Council has dismissed it. The site is not suitable for housing and the Borough Council has identified sufficient land elsewhere to meet the national requirements set by central government for new homes in the Borough. Notwithstanding that, there is still the prospect that the inspector will be asked to include Grange Farm in the Local Plan which we will continue to resist. ROADS, POTHOLES, STREETLIGHTS AND DRAINS Maintaining our roads and pavements is the responsibility of Kent County Council but we are always pleased to take up reports of potholes and faulty streetlights on your behalf. We work closely with local County Councillors to campaign for road resurfacing such as The Ridgeway last summer. We have been successful in the County Council to resurface whole length of the public footpath from Hunt Road to the pedestrian link into Priestley Drive. Your local Conservative Team will continue our ‘Report and fix’ campaign by reporting potholes and faulty streetlights. ENHANCING THE TREASURES OF WOODLAND WALK Woodland Walk is enjoyed by hundreds of local residents each day and is a fantastic green lung and public amenity for north Tonbridge. We both support the work of the Woodland Walk Residents’ Group in maintaining its upkeep and tidiness and championing improvements to the area, such as better security at Frogs Bridge. We have been pleased to support local residents in carrying out litter picks. We will want to see more investment at Woodland Walk in the next four years. What we re doing for Cage Green I have lived in Tonbridge with my wife, Maria, for 24 years, raising four children born and educated in West Kent. First elected to represent Cage Green in May 1998, I have always spoken up for local communities in the council chamber and supported local organisations like the Woodland Walk Residents’ Group. I have also held a number of senior positions, taking a particular interest in local housing and community engagement. In May 2012 it was my privilege to be elected the Borough Council leader. I work in London for a campaign championing apprenticeships and vocational education and, as a regular commuter, know all too well the challenges of train travel. I am a board member of the Bridge Trust and until re- cently chair of the West Kent Cruse bereavement service. I am regular at the Tonbridge parkrun and get along to watch Tonbridge Angels as much as possible. I have lived in Hildenborough and Tonbridge all my life, the last 24 years in north Tonbridge with my wife and two children both of whom were at schools in Tonbridge, and who are now at universities. I qualified as a solicitor in 1984 and for the last 30 years have been a partner in a local firm. I have represented the Cage Green ward on the Borough Council since 2007 and have a particular interest in planning and environmental affairs and recycling. I chair the committee which deals with those aspects of the Council’s business. I also represent the Council on Tonbridge & Malling Leisure Trust which is responsible for the Borough’s swimming pools, golf club and leisure centre. I am vice-chair of the governors of Tonbridge Grammar School and am an enthusiastic supporter of Tonbridge Juddians Rugby Club. What we’re doing for Cage Green

I have lived in Tonbridge with my wife, Maria, for 24 years, raising four children born and educated in West Kent.

First elected to represent Cage Green in May 1998,I have always spoken up for local communities in the council chamber and supported local organisations like the Woodland Walk Residents’ Group.

I work in London for a campaign championing apprenticeships and vocational education and, as a regular commuter, know all too well the challenges of train travel.

I am a board member of the Bridge Trust and until re-cently chair of the West Kent Cruse bereavement service. I am regular at the Tonbridge parkrun and get along to watch Tonbridge Angels as much as possible.

I have represented the Cage
