Dear Alumnae,

The beginning of the school year is always filled with a palpable buzz of energy. The calendar is jammed packed with lots of events and activities. This new school year was extra special as it included several exciting “firsts”.

On September 2nd, we welcomed over 150 members of the Class of 2019 and their families for our first-ever “Patch Presentation”. This special event included the presentation of the green Freshman uniform emblem by Dr. Walls, our Principal, to each student. After the Presentation, the Class of 2019 celebrated with their families at a small reception.

During the opening week of school, Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter visited St. Hubert for the first time ever. Mayor Nutter addressed the student body during an assembly and was thrilled to receive an embroidered St. Hubert hoodie which he promised to proudly wear to a public event in the coming months (so keep an eye out!). The highlight of the Mayor’s visit was when all of the students stood and performed a rousing rendition of the school song. Mayor Nutter was extremely impressed with the girls’ school spirit. It was certainly a proud day for St. Hubert.

The end of September was perhaps the most memorable, as welcomed Pope Francis for the first time to the United States. I know I can speak for the entire St. Hubert community when I say how exciting it was to have the Holy Father visit Philadelphia. I know that we, as Catholics, will always remember his historic visit to our great country. God Bless, Papa Francisco!

I experienced a very personal exciting first when my daughter, Julia, entered the halls of our beloved alma mater as a Freshman on September 8th. What a blessing it is to have her experience the St. Hubert Sisterhood just as I did over 25 years ago. I look forward to Julia blossoming, along with her “sisters” in the Class of 2019, as a woman of faith and integrity.

All of these firsts are just the beginning of what I know will be yet another amazing year at St. Hubert. There is always lots of great things happening (Coach Bingo, Hall of Fame, Legacy Luncheon; see inside for more information), so please come out and join the excitement. I hope to see you at a St. Hubert event soon!

Lunch Bunch of 62The "Lunch Bunch of 62" is at is again! Members of the Class of 1962 gathered in August for their 2nd Annual Back-to-School luncheon at St. Hubert where they surprised Danielle Franks '16 with a $2,000 scholarship! The amazing ladies of 1962 gather several times a year and pool their donations to "adopt" a Senior. If you'd like to learn more about adopting a student, contact:

Robin Skubin Nolan '90, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, at [email protected]

Our Lady of the Angels ChapelOur Lady of Angels Chapel recently opened to serve as a more convenient location (near the cafeteria) to serve our students. Thanks to the generosity of the local Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, the Chapel includes an altar which was located in the Faculty House at North Catholic for many decades as well as a tabernacle and stand which were fixtures in the North Catholic Chapel. Our Lady of Angels Chapel is a lovely and quiet space which blends the modern needs of our students with the historic pieces of a beloved school whose memory is cherished by so many. We are planning to dedicate the Chapel in the next few months. If you're interested in learning more about making a gift to have the Chapel dedicated in your name or a family member's name, contact Robin Skubin Nolan '90, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, at [email protected] or 215-624-6840 x233.

We invite all past, present and future Bambies to celebrate the strong family ties that are woven through the fabric of St. Hubert’s history. Many of our current students are “legacy Bambies” whose mothers, grandmothers and great-grandmothers walked the

halls at St. Hubert many years ago. Join us as we commemorate and rejoice in the wonderful legacy of our great school. Bring your sisters, cousins, nieces, aunts, mothers,
