EXECUTIVE
SUMMARY
Holoscene, Intl. was established in 2011 as a team o individuals sharing the same value o ollowing the aesthetics
o orm and the utility o space. Each team members area o interest and specialization compliments each othersOur diversely skilled team works together as strongly knit mesh, allowing us to provide innovative high-end ser-vices in Landscape Architecture, Site Planning, Urban Design, and Industrial Design.
Our proessional approach and philosophy is premised on delivering a product reflecting the highest level o ex-
pertise, quality, and emphasis on design integrity, earning us continued trust and respect clients and colleagues.
Principal Landscape Architect, V.C. Heti will lead the beginning process. Moving into design refinement and con-tract documents will phase over to Associate Landscape Architect, Jake Coryell, taking charge as Project Manager.
In our collective minds, this is not a traditional design project. The manner o space program and unction, espe-cially relating to the surrounding neighborhood, College Thomas Mann, Ministere des Sports, Train Station, con-
nections to University Paris Diderot, The National Library, and Parc de Bercy, will inorm the design o Cadets de la
France Libre Parc and the block it occupies.
We understand the residents goal or a multipurpose urban park to suit the varied demograph-ics o the area. From design charrettes with neighborhood residents, government representa-tives, and University representatives, and other interested parties, we will gather incite on pro-gram elements desired or the park. Preliminary surveys have inormed a program o: generarecreation, aesthetic through route, areas or reading and repose, childrens play area, a saeplace or urban youth, leisure and eating spaces or urban proessionals and students, and an
aesthetic congruent with historic elements, while taking on modernized orms rom aroundthe area. Given the cultural heritage and history, it is within both the aesthetic ormulation andthe cultural mind-set to remix the classical French garden and Architectural style with a mod-
ernized landscape in both appearance and unction.
Survey comments suggest dislike or the current design, as a wasted through space and sug-gestions were made to make it an event location. Responding to surveys and limited space, ourdesign concept is to maximize space with multiunctional park eatures, unctioning or dier-ent demographics at dierent times o the day. Our rm will conducted studies o use times o
this and similar parks to determine projected use times, to best determine the integration odesired programmatic elements or optimal mixed-use unctionality and fexibility.
Our budget is estimated at $$$$/sq. t. at a total o $1,850,000 or ####sq. t. As part o our rms
services we request the approval to conduct an RP, conducted or local artists to design parkelements to enhance cultural identity, in addition to stimulating the local economy, and ur-thering the sense o local pride and ownership. We recommend unding at state and nationallevel is sought or artist grants, lowering the cost o construction. Partnering with the local
Universitys Industrial Arts Department may urther reduce the budget.
Projected date o completion is August 2013 with construction beginning May 2013. We eelthis date is easible provided the design team is selected by July 2012, assuring all contractdocuments are completed and available or review prior to the construction date.

PARIS 13E,Cadets de la France Libre Parc
The redesign o Libre Parc is a
signifcant project.
This small urban park is
wasted space acting as a by-
pass or users between
Rue Thomas Mann,
Rue du Chevaleret, and
Rue des Grands Moulins.
While it is important to
maintain these bypass,
the park can have ar greater
unction in serving the
surrounding community.

CONSULTING TEAMCOMMUNITYThis is a complex project with many stakeholders, each with
a unique perspective. All input should be considered. How-
ever viewpoints often conflict, which requires a consultant
with skills to listen, build consensus, and bring differences to
resolution.
PARTNER WITH LOCAL DESIGN TEAMThe consultant team must have experience in internationalrelations, to insure a collaborative approach. The consultant
should represent a strong voice and advocate for the design
amenity of Cadets de la France Libre Parc.
PARTNER WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENTThe redesign will require the consultant team to work closely
with the local government with respect to maintaining and
operating the park. The team must navigate through the ap-
proval process, providing flexibility to all departments input.
URBAN PUBLIC SPACEStrong programming of activities, amenities, and events are
crucial in creating an enlivened public space. These epi-
sodic and daily activities give park visitors reasons to stay
and return. Creating a comprehensive expense budget and
revenue generation plan is fundamental for the ongoing
financial health, and overall operations of the park. Long
term care and stewardship of this open space that will insure
its continued value to the community in the long run.
DESIGN SIGNIFICANCEThe park aims to make connections, both literal and aesthet-
ic, from the 13E district to the 12th. Beginning at the Train
Station, to University Paris Diderot, to The National Library,
and across Pl. Simone de Beauvoir to Parc de Bercy. This con-nection takes the greater aim of establishing a park network,
with unique event nodes along the route.
URBAN CONTEXTThe streetscape, buildings and public realm that surround
and incorporate Libre Parc contribute to its unique sense of
place. The park edges do not stop at the street curb, they ex-
tend to the facades of all the buildings surrounding the park
and beyond those edges by suggesting a lynchpin link as
mentioned above. Views of the park from and to surround-
ing buildings are a component of the parks urban character
and should be considered in the design process.

USERS/CLIENTSLIBRE PARC USERSThe US guide on transit planning, the Transit Capacity and
Quality of Service Manual, adheres to the most commonly
cited standard for comfortable walking distance at 400m
[1/4 mi]. However, is it cited Europeans tend to be comfort-
able with slightly longer distances. This range establishes the
primary user base.
VALUEPhase One creates concepts that respond to what Libre Parc
should be, capturing the fullest extent of what is possible.
The result must be an activated space that captures and sup-
ports the interests of the community.
LOCAL EXPERTISEConsultants with familiarity of the 13th and 12th arrondisse-
ments of Paris, familiarity with the climate and geology, and
other disciplines will be hired as advisors to local laws and
standards of practice, aid in aquiring site data, and assist-
ing our team in nding local craftsmen to be commissioned
for implimentation and design of our innovative technical,
iconic, and environmental solutions to the project.

PROGRAM ELEMENTSINFUSIONLibre Parc is located at the convergence of traditional Paris
to the East and modern Paris to the West. Our rms ex-
pertise lays in the challenge of renovative design solutions,
merging the contemporary with the classical.
RECREATION RE-MIXPhase Two begins with a time-use demographic analysis of
the Parc. The information found in the analysis will essen-tially, provide us with program elements of several different
parks (example. morning, noon, evening). The concept of
the re-mixed park is merging these different parks into one,
by creating multipurpose and multifunctional site elements.
These site elements will be arranged in a sequence of spaces
to best suit the uses.

Two ideas presented in this course had profound prevailing impacts. First is genre, specically thenotion of the mixed-genre. The re-mix notion has become one of the base theories in my Landscape Architectural practice. A series of discussions and reections on the concept mixed-genrehave dedicated blog posts exploring the concept in literal, gurative format and several contextsThe mixed-genre has entered my common design vernacular as a well-suited notion for conjunctive terminology in design genre. Prior blogs have had such a notion, linking an article on GiantsCauseway to a Led Zeppelin album cover or discussing winter snow typologies with Calvin & Hobbes comics. I am furthering the thought with my professional blog, sometimes merely as a mash-upof article sources or media types, or stretching the topic to re-mix designs with theories, abstractspictures, songs, etc.
The second impact from course content is overall professionalization. Weaving professionalizationwith technology and the digital self while reviewing how this reects the actual self and the desired perception depicted to the audience. This basic notion that we highlighted has furthered my
understanding of marketing and branding. What are you telling your day to day audience aboutwho you are? The idea is reected in clothing, posture, vocabulary. The professionalization of suchthings, is to uniquely dene a self that is hard working, serious, and intelligent, but also maintainsa sense of humour and airy breath of frivolity. All of these characteristics can be nely-tuned marketed.
Digitally, everything from graphics, logo selection, business card, to signature, to the picture youchoose as your desktop, says something about you and in a way denes you, just as the contentpeople can observe in online media connected to the digital self. I nd these lessons highly valuable and something to always keep in mind, how is the audience perceiving me?
This evidence proves my thorough engagement in the class. My blog posts [including about 12draft posts, yet to be polished out] and expansion, compartmentalization and denition of digitaself further proves my participation in course content. I have interlinked all my web presence asmuch as possible. And now have four working blogs divided by content (1. quotes and random inspiring pictures, 2. a comic strip 3. professional design 4. short stories, poems, and random knowl-edge gained).
There are several students who I connect with as professional colleagues, which of whoms blogs follow and comment on, several followed on twitter, 2 added on facebook, and three on LinkedIn
While the argument could be made that I have missed a few classes, I have always contacted a peefor updates. When present, I more than make up for the absences, participating fully. While the ressat still with no response, I would enter the discussion. I was always engaged and interested, taking
thorough notes on lectures and giving serious contemplation to topics discussed. Im going to bevery blunt in this: most students just go to class, apathetically listen, get marginal work in on timeand then forget everything after nals week. I Sir, am nothing like those students. Therefore, I cancondently assert that I have earned an A in this course.
I was a Collition Thesis Award Finalist, and therefore I have no regrets about the choice I made tox my thesis rather than attend the presentations. I attended all of my colleagues thesis presentations in professional attire and manner. It is easily arguable to say what lessons you would have uslearn from presenting and watching the presentations, I sufciently learned on a more professionaenvironment and tailored to my profession. I ask for that to be considered in your deliberations.
Thank you.
