Max Lees Classic (900m) from start to finish under jockey Aaron Bullock.

Having shown blistering speed when winning an 800 metre barrier trial by over nine lengths on 21 November, Bullock was keen to go forward in the early stages from barrier three, and Jonker was soon in command at the head of affairs.

Once levelling up for home, he was shaken up and quickened impressively to stretch clear of the field, beating Alison Of Tuffy (Manhattan Rain) by almost three lengths, with Paquirri (I Am Invincible) a further neck behind in third place.

Newcastle-based Atkins said that the $2,000,000 Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast on 13 January would now come under consideration.

"He's run time and did a bit of work. The way he raced 1200 metres looks ideal for him," Atkins told Sky Thoroughbred Central.

"He's got a good turn of foot and he's go to the Magic Millions if he's good enough."

Jonker (2 c Spirit Of Boom - Hearts And Arrows by Kempinsky) is the first foal to race out of the winning Hearts And Arrows (Kempinsky), who is a half-sister to the Group Three winner Fair Trade (Danewin).

His winning second dam Villa Igea (Papal Power) has produced eight winners from ten foals to race and is a sister to the dam of the dual Group Two winner Impaler (Dracula).

Jonker’s third dam Wycombe (Imposing) won once over 1200 metres and is a half-sister to multiple Group One winner and stallion Danewin (Danehill) and the late former Darley stallion Commands (Danehill).

Spirit Of Boom (Sequalo) is currently standing for a fee of $11,000 (inc GST) at Eureka Stud in Queensland.

Meanwhile, the Lloyd Kennewell-trained filly La Pomme De Pin (I Am Invincible) could also be bound for the Magic Millions race day at the Gold Coast.

The juvenile ran out a hugely impressive winner of the Magic Millions 2YO Clockwise Classic (1000m) at Ballarat at her latest start when making all to beat Anthemoessa (Smart Missile) by five and a half lengths.

Morphettville-based Kennewell, who enjoyed a breakthrough Group One success when saddling Viddora (I Am Invincible) to win the Winterbottom Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) at Ascot on Saturday, said La Pomme De Pin will head to the Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Classic (RL, 1100m) at Wyong on 21 December before heading to the Gold Coast the following month.

"She had three or four days of ‘R and R’ at the farm and I'm really happy with how she has come through that," Kennewell said.

"She'll head to Wyong for her next run. In the next seven to ten days she'll have a nice hit-out and hopefully she's all systems go to get to Wyong and then she'll head to the Gold Coast from there.

"Everything seems to be going really well for her so we've just got to hope that she can keep ticking the boxes along the way.

"And if she shows signs she's had enough she'll head to the farm for a spell instead of going everywhere she's got to go."

In recent seasons, Karuta Queen (Not A Single Doubt) (2010), Unencumbered (Testa Rossa) (2013) and Capitalist (Written Tycoon) (2015) have all won the Wyong lead-up race en route to taking out the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

La Pomme De Pin will be joined at the Gold Coast by impressive Winterbottom Stakes winner Viddora, who will target either the Magic Millions Sprint (1200m) or the Magic Millions Fillies and Mares (1300m).

Three for Spirit Of BoomThe Eureka Stud-based first season stallion Spirit Of Boom (Sequalo) sired his third winner yesterday when the David Atkins-trainer Jonker (2 c ex Hearts And Arrows by Kempinsky) ran out an impressive winner of the Max Lees Classic 2YO Stakes (900m) at Newcastle yesterday. The two-year-old showed a good attitude to beat Alison Of Tuffy (Manhattan Rain) by three lengths, and clocked a time of 51.27 seconds for the 900 metres. Jonker joins Ef Troop and Legal Ties as the stallion’s other winners. Spirit Of Boom has 11 lots catalogued at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in January.

Black Heart Bart in prime conditionThe Darren Weir-trained Black Heart Bart (Blackfriars) is in peak condition ahead of his run in the Kingston Town Classic (Gr 1, 1800m) at Ascot on Saturday. The seven-year-old gelding will be looking to secure

his sixth win at Group One level when he lines up in the $1,000,000 race. Weir's assistant Jarrod McLean said Black Heart Bart galloped at Lindsey Smith's Perth property on Saturday morning and will have another gallop on Tuesday to round out the preparation. "It was a little foreign to him because he galloped on Lindsey's sand track, but he galloped with Trap For Fools and Weiry was really happy," McLean said. "He's come on great and hopefully that's bad news for the opposition unless there's a three-year-old that comes out of the ground. But I just can't see anything turning the tables on him."

Great Shot to Kingston TownGreat Shot (Magnus) looks set to take on Black Heart Bart again in the Kingston Town Classic on Saturday, with the gelding narrowly coming out on top when the pair met in the Railway Stakes (Gr 1, 1600m) at Ascot on 25 November. Trainer Rhys Radford has said he is looking forward to Great Shot running in the Group One and believes the step up in distance will not be problem for the son of Magnus (Flying Spur). Great Shot was purchased by Francis Edwards for $31,000 at the Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale from the Scenic Lodge draft.

Four runners for owner Bob PetersOwner Bob Peters will likely have four runners in the Kingston Town Classic at Ascot on Saturday with Silverstream (Al Maher), Cosmic Storm (Street Sense), Royal Star (Redoute’s Choice) and Perfect Jewel (Redoute’s Choice) all likely to line up in the Group One. Perfect Jewel will be hoping to follow up her last start victory in the WA Guineas (Gr 2, 1600m), while Lee Steere Stakes (Gr 3, 1400m) winner Silverstream will be looking to make amends for his last start disappointment in the Railway Stakes, where he finished 13th, with Group Three winner Cosmic Storm running tenth place in the same race. Royal Star goes into the Group One off the back of a second place finish in the Tourism WA Trophy Handicap (1400m).

Achernar Star to back upLast start WA Guineas runner-up Achernar Star (Gingerbread Man) will also take his chance in the Kingston Town Stakes at Ascot on Saturday. The three-year-old gelding has finished second at stakes level on three occasions will be ridden by Chris Parnham on Saturday. Achernar Star was purchased by Astute Bloodstock for $75,000 at the Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale from the Korilya Stud draft.

State Solicitor to Scahill Stakes Despite his disappointing eighth-placed finish in Saturday’s Winterbottom Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) co-trainers Grant and Alana Williams are planning to run State Solicitor (Nicconi) in the WATC Scahill Stakes (Gr 3, 1400m) at Ascot on 16 December. State Solicitor won the WATC Colonel Reeves Stakes (Gr 3, 1100m) on the 18 November.

Red Excitement ready for the VilliersTrainer Gerald Ryan is looking forward to running Red Excitement (Excites) in the Villiers Stakes (Gr 2, 1600m) at Randwick on 16 December after being impressed with his third in the Festival Stakes (Gr 3, 1500m) at Rosehill on Saturday. This was the best performance from the eight-year-old gelding since he pushed Winx (Street Cry) all the the way in the Chelmsford Stakes (Gr 2, 1600m) in September. "He ran third in the Festival Stakes last year and then went on to win the Summer Cup and the Gosford Cup," Ryan said. "This time he will go to the Villiers. He's passed a million dollars now which is great for the horse and his owners."

All Over Bosanova to BribieAll Over Bosanova (Court Command) will resume in the Bribie Handicap (Listed, 1050m) at Doomben on Saturday week, according to trainer Mel Eggleston. The four-year-old mare has not been seen since she won the Daybreak Lover Plate (Listed, 1200m) at Doomben in June. "She will run in the Listed Bribie Handicap (1050m) at Doomben on Saturday week and then have one more start in the Listed Fillies and Mares race (Nudgee Quality) two weeks later,” said Eggleston. "The Bribie is an open company race but the distance is right for her first start this campaign. She can have another break after those two runs and come back for the winter. Although we will look to see if there is anything for her in the Sydney autumn."

Bell hopes for a wet summerTrainer Mick Bell will be hoping the wet weather continues into the summer so he can target more races with Jungle Edge (Dubawi). The consistent gelding followed up his victory in the Kevin Heffernan Stakes (Gr 3, 1300m) by winning the Le Pine Funerals Handicap (1000m) at Sandown Hillside on Saturday and he will now be aimed at an open handicap at on Pakenham Saturday. "It's still on the cards. He came home last night, it was absolutely pouring as we got home," Bell told RSN 927. "It's possibly going to be a pretty heavy track at Pakenham; it'd have to be considered. But I wouldn't run unless I was totally happy with how he's pulled up, but I'm going to enter him."

Minor setback for GingernutsMultiple Group One winner Gingernuts (Iffraaj) has suffered a setback on his road to recovery from a fractured pastern he sustained on the way down to the start before his intended run in the Emirates Stakes (registered as LKS Mackinnon Stakes) (Gr 1, 2000m). "Our lovely Jerry has been progressing well but had a setback yesterday with a temperature causing some veterinary specialist concern - perfusions last night, today & tomorrow but vet team confident they can get on top of this #jerrylove thank you for caring x," Te Akau's post read.

Fundraiser planned for Lismore's Scott JonesLismore Turf Club’s (LTC) Mike Cleaver has said there will be a fundraiser for the club’s secretary-manager Scott Jones, as he continues to recover from severe burns he suffered in a gas explosion at the racecourse last Thursday. LTC’s deputy chairman, Cleaver, is running the Club in Scott’s absence said: “We’re in constant contact with the family for updates as we are planning a massive fundraiser, most likely to run in tandem with our mid-February race meeting. We have our heart set on Scotty walking through the door on the day so we’ll be guided by his condition. People like Darren Beadman have kindly offered some fantastic things to auction so it will be a big day – nothing like a garage sale. It will be held at the racecourse and all race clubs in the Northern Rivers region want to be involved.”

Avondale Cup aim for Kachhi Ruakaka-based co-trainers Donna Logan and Chris Gibbs are planning an audacious tilt at the Avondale Cup (Gr 2, 2400m) on New Year’s Day with Kachhi (Showcasing) after the mare registered an impressive, fast-finishing victory in a Benchmark 65 (1600m) at Ellerslie on Saturday. “We’ve nominated her for the Avondale Cup, which I know is a big call, but we have a huge opinion of her,” Gibbs said. “I told her owners she would have to win today and then she will have to win her next start, but

I think she is good enough to do that. She is just a beautiful mare.”

Sweepstake regains form at WanganuiTrainer Mike Breslin was pleased to see Group One-placed mare Sweepstake (Per Incanto) get her head back in front at Wanganui on Saturday. The four-year-old mare, who ran third in the New Zealand 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m) last season, was having her third start this season since an operation to remove a bone chip earlier this year. “Once they’ve had an operation like that you are never too sure just how well they can come back from it,” Breslin said. “She got a pretty soft lead and found a great kick in the run home to do it easily in the end. She is Group quality so we will be looking to get her a start at that level during this preparation.”

Eulogy Stakes possible for Princess RihannaPrincess Rihanna (Showcasing) could be aimed for a tilt at the Eulogy Stakes (Gr 3, 1550m) at Awapuni on 16 December after a comfortable victory at Ellerslie on Saturday. The Group Three-placed filly won by a length and a quarter over 1400 metres and co-trainer Andrew Scott is keen to test her over a longer trip. “Lance (O’Sullivan) and I had talked about the Eulogy for her, but we will just have to wait and see how she pulls up before we make that commitment,” Scott said. “We will have a chat later in the week but her performance on Saturday does provide plenty of food for thought about how she might cope over a little more distance in her races.”

Clarify to target defence of Dunstan FinalThe Peter McKay-trained Clarify (Savabeel) will be prepared for a defence of his NZ$100,000 Dunstan Feeds Stayers Championship Final (2200m) crown at Ellerslie on New Year’s Day after winning easily over 2100 metres at Ellerslie on Saturday. “I had been working him over ground but the Saturday before we were meant to head south he tied up on me, so we decided it might be time to back off him slightly,” said Matamata-based McKay. “We’ve freshened him up and hopefully he can go towards the Dunstan now.”

Gold Dream leads late in Champions CupGold Dream (4 c Gold Allure - Mon Vert by French Deputy) led in the final strides under Ryan Moore to win the Champions Cup (Gr 1, 1800m) on dirt at Chukyo in Japan yesterday, his second victory at Grade One level. The four-year-old was held up in midfield by Moore before delivering a strong late burst on the outside of the field to collar T M Jinsoku (Kurofune) by a neck close home, with the same distance back to Copano Rickey (Gold Allure) in third. “It was a pleasure to ride the horse. He was a Grade One winner already and he showed his class,” Moore said. “He’s won both the two main Grade One races on dirt in Japan so he’s rightly a champion.” Click here to view the race replay.

Seven for Red Giant

Former Westbury Stud shuttler Red Giant (Giant’s Causeway) was yesterday provided with his seventh stakes winner yesterday courtesy of Nova Strike’s (5 g ex La Panthere by Generous) victory in the Colonial Chief Stakes (Listed, 1700m) at Kranji. The five-year-old gelding clearly relished the step up in distance, having been last sighted running eighth in the EW Barker Trophy (Listed, 1400m) last month and yesterday he stormed back into form, eventually beating Magstock (Tavistock) by four and a half lengths with another half a length back to Lim’s Archer (Authorized) in third.

Nassa out of Hong Kong CupThe Tony Millard-trained Nassa (Dynasty) will not run in the Hong Kong Cup (Gr 1, 2000m) at the Hong Kong International Races at Sha Tin on Sunday after he sustained a tendon injury. A winner of the

Sa Sa Ladies' Purse (Gr 3, 1800m) in November, the five-year-old was most recently seen running third behind former Hong Kong horse of the year Werther (Tavistock) in the BOCHK Jockey Club Cup (Gr 2, 2000m) on 19 November.

Four Grade One winners for FreudThe Jorge Navarro-trained Sharp Azteca (4 c ex So Sharp by Saint Liam) took out the Cigar Mile Handicap (Gr 1, 8f) at Aqueduct on Saturday evening to provide his sire Freud (Storm Cat) with his fourth individual Grade One winner. The colt, who was a close second behind Battle Of Midway (Smart Strike) in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (Gr 1, 8f) when last sighted at Del Mar on 3 November, comfortably saw off Mind Your Biscuits (Posse) to score by five and a quarter lengths, with Practical Joke (Into Mischief) a further two and three quarter lengths behind in third place. Freud has sired 55 stakes winners overall and stands at Sequel Stallion Farm in New York. Click here to view the race replay.

Remsen Stakes to Catholic Boy The high-class Catholic Boy (2 c More Than Ready - Song Of Bernadette by Bernardini) bounced back to winning form in the Remsen Stakes (Gr 2, 9f) at Aqueduct on Saturday evening. The Jonathan Thomas-trained colt had taken out the With Anticipation Stakes (Gr 3, 7f) earlier this campaign and was a good fourth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (Gr 1, 8f) on 3 November at his previous start. He took advantage of the drop in class to beat Avery Island (Street Sense) easily by four and three quarter lengths under Manuel Franco, with Vouch (Yes It’s True) a further length and three quarters behind in third. Wonder Gadot lands Demoiselle StakesWonder Gadot (2 f Medaglia d'Oro - Loving Vindication by Vindication) also regained the winning thread after a defeat at the Breeders’ Cup when landing the Demoiselle Stakes (Gr 2, 9f) at Aqueduct on Saturday evening. The filly won the Mazarine Stakes (Gr 3, 8.5f) at Woodbine in October before finishing sixth

behind Caledonia Road (Quality Road) in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (Gr 1, 8.5f) on 4 November. She proved a cut above her rivals at Aqueduct, beating Maurer Power (Violence) by three and three quarter lengths, with Layla Noor (Midnight Lute) a further three lengths behind in third. 61 for BernardiniIndulgent (4 f ex Fast Cookie by Deputy Minister) took out the Go For Wand Handicap (Gr 3, 8f) at Aqueduct on Saturday evening to provide former Darley shuttler Bernardini (A. P. The Kiaran McLaughlin-trained and Godolphin-raced filly beat Highway Star (Girolamo) by a length under Luis Saez, with Verve’s Tale (Tale Of Ekati) just a half a length further behind in third place. Bernardini shuttled to Australia for eight seasons between 2008 and 2015, covering 938 mares in the process. Click here to view the race replay.

The Grey Gatsby to stand in France

Dual Group One winner The Grey Gatsby (Mastercraftsman) has been retired and will stand at Haras du Petit Tellier in Normandy in 2018. The six-year-old spent the majority of his career with Yorkshire-based Kevin Ryan, winning the Prix du Jockey Club (Gr 1, 2100m) and the Irish Champion Stakes (Gr 1, 1m2f) as a three-year-old, while he also finished a close second in the 2015 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes (Gr 1, 1m2f) at Royal Ascot. "The Grey Gatsby was a wonderful racehorse with good conformation and temperament,” stud owner Patrick Chedeville said. "He will be a valuable new stallion in France from the Danehill line, which is not seen in France as much as in the rest of Europe, especially in Ireland." The Grey Gatsby will stand for a fee of €7,000.

John Size will resist temptation with emerging talent Hot King Prawn (Denman) after the grey remained unbeaten with his fourth effortless

win in a row in the Class Three Middle Handicap (1000m) at Sha Tin on Sunday.

As a three-year-old, Hot King Prawn is eligible for the Griffin Trophy over 1400 metres on 23 December, where he would be treated favourably at the weights against horses rated far below him. This was the same race in which Pakistan Star (Shamardal) scored his last win late last year.

However, Size said Hot King Prawn – who is yet to race beyond 1000 metres – is now unlikely to be seen again until the last few months of the season after his win as 1.4 favourite at Sha Tin yesterday.

“I think he’d probably win the Griffin Trophy, but I’m not going to go against my usual training patterns just to win one race,” Size said.

“I’m a bit too conservative for that. There’s no point extending him out in distance just because the race is there.

“He’s facing Class Two now, so I’d say the likelihood is I give him a break before I attack Class Two. I would like to give him a few months to develop a bit more.

“I’d say the only way he races again in the next couple of months is if I can find an easy Class Two, and as we just saw, there’s not many of them,” Size added after his House Of Fun (Starcraft) was edged out in the day’s Class Two event.

For jockey Zac Purton, Hot King Prawn’s two and a quarter length victory carrying 130lb in a season-quickest time of 56.03s was his most impressive effort to date, especially given he was pressured early by Chad Schofield aboard second favourite Encore Boy (Smart Missile).

“He was actually better today going flat out the whole way than he is if you sit up on him,” Purton said. “I was surprised that Encore Boy served it up to me as much as he did, but all it did was that it showed my fellow has more left in the tank. He had to keep rolling early to maintain his position and he was getting crowded for room, but once Encore Boy dropped off, he just picked the bit up and surged and clicked himself into another gear.”

While Purton says Hot King Prawn is comfortable over 1000 metres, he feels that the son of Denman (Lonhro) won’t have any problems stretching out to 1200 metres.

“He’s such a relaxed horse that I don’t think the 1200 metres is going to be a problem,” the Australian rider said. “John’s a master at picking out the right race, so I’ll leave the race planning up to him.”

One winner on Sunday’s card who will push on to the Griffin Trophy is Michael Freedman-trained Sparkling Dragon (O’Reilly), who won the Class Four Granville Handicap (1400m) under Sam Clipperton in a driving finish over Paul O’Sullivan’s Win Beauty Win (Makfi).

“I stepped him up to 1400 metres because this race was restricted to three-year-olds only,” Freedman said.

“So it set up well for him and I was keen to have a look at him at 1400 metres, with the Griffin Trophy over that trip in three weeks’ time. He’s still quite new and even though he’s won twice by leading, I’d love to ride him in behind one day.

“For a young horse having his second start, carrying 133lb and leading all the way, it was a

good tough effort. I haven’t been here long but they tell me they don’t do that too often. I’ve got a lot of time for him and I think he can continue to progress through the grades.”

Tsui dominates on dirt with four-timer

Training honours went to Me Tsui at Sunday’s meeting, with the handler winning four of the seven dirt races on the card. It was Tsui’s second four-timer in his Hong Kong career and his first at Sha Tin.

“I expected our runners would perform well today but winning four races was really a pleasant surprise,” Tsui said after the wins to Sky Treasure (Stravinsky), Ugly Warrior (Swiss Ace), Flying Godspell (Per Incanto) and Fight Hero (Footstepsinthesand).

“I really have to thank my team for all the effort they put in and the work that has gone into these wins. I also want to thank my owners for their patience and trust.”

Tsui took the day’s highest-rated race, the Class Two Nathan Handicap (1200m), with Fight Hero. The 20/1 shot charged late from near the rear under Umberto Rispoli to grab Size’s House Of Fun in the shadows of the post, with a nose the margin at the wire.

“This is the winner that surprised me the most today,” Tsui said. “Full credit to Umberto, the horse jumped well beneath him. We had concerns beforehand that the horse could lag behind in the early stages, but luckily after he jumped well, the pace was very fast and it assisted him to come from behind in the straight.”

The day’s feature, the Class Three Peninsula Golden Jubilee Challenge Cup Handicap (1650m), went to Peter Ho-trained Turin Pearl (Medaglia d’Oro), with jockey Dylan Mo bringing up a running double after his victory on Flying Godspell. Also scoring a double was Vincent Ho, who won aboard Ugly Warrior and Diamond Dragon (Not A Single Doubt).

Sunday’s meeting was a prelude to Hong Kong’s biggest week of racing. Wednesday night features the LONGINES International Jockeys Championship at Happy Valley, before next Sunday’s LONGINES Hong Kong International Races at Sha Tin.

A strong renewal of the Tattersalls December Foal Sale closed last night in Newmarket with a pair of six-figure lots led by a 110,000

guineas daughter of Haunui Farm shuttler Iffraaj (Zafonic) who provided a fine return for her breeder Overbury Stud.

This year’s yearling sales were kind to a number of pinhookers and they duly returned to stock up with a zest that propelled the week’s trade to record levels. The average price finished at a record 44,027 guineas, up seven per cent from last year, while the median of 25,000 guineas was another record landmark. Only the aggregate failed to reach new heights - although at a hefty 32,668,200 guineas, it provided yet another demonstration of the current strong appetite for foals.

"If you're selling, the market is extraordinary, absolutely unbelievable,” said Richard Brown of Blandford Bloodstock. “However, if you're buying it's very difficult!”

Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony added: “The correlation between the yearling market and the foal market is well established and the record breaking Tattersalls October Yearling Sale has been matched by an equally dynamic Tattersalls December Foal Sale.

“Tribute must go to the vendors who yet

again have brought the cream of the British and Irish foal crops to Tattersalls and the buyers have responded accordingly.”

Swift return for OverburyOverbury Stud’s investment in the Oasis

Dream (Green Desert) mare Arabian Mirage at last year’s December Mares Sale reaped major dividends for the Gloucestershire-based stud yesterday when the Iffraaj filly she was carrying at the time of her purchase realised a session-topping 110,000gns to Liam Norris of Norris/Huntingdon.

The filly, who was catalogued as Lot 1150, is the fifth foal out of her Listed-placed dam, who is a half-sister to Dubai Duty Free (Gr 1, 1800m) winner Al Shemali (Medicean) and classy stayer Tungsten Strike (Smart Strike) - like the sale-topping 750,000 guineas Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) filly, she belongs to a family that has been developed in recent years by Willie and Elaine Carson.

"I'm delighted, particularly as she's going to such a good home,” said Simon Sweeting of Overbury Stud. “Liam and Jenny do such a good job, which is so important as the mare is still with us and young.

"Richard Brown bought the mare for me last year. We liked the cover and we thought at the price that she was good value."

Plans call for the filly to be resold at next year’s yearling sales.

"She's for a syndicate to come back and sell through Norris Bloodstock,” said Liam Norris. “I thought she was a lovely filly, the pick of the day. In fact, she was the only one I had on my list.”

Iffraaj was also responsible for a colt out of Kodi Bear’s (Kodiac) half-sister Princess Cammie (Camacho) who was snapped up by Harry Sweeney on behalf of Darley Japan for 80,000 guineas. The highlight of yesterday’s draft hailing from Aston Mullins Stud, he was catalogued as Lot 1227 and was the tenth purchase of the week for Darley Japan and brought their expenditure to 492,000 guineas.

110,000gns Iffraaj filly closes strong renewal of December Foal Sale

Thunder colt takes Tatts by storm

There was also a happy outcome for breeders Kirtlington Stud and Sarah Hamilton when their Night Of Thunder (Dubawi) colt made 100,000gns to Yeomanstown Stud, one of the busiest buyers of the week with 18 purchases to their name.

From the first crop of his sire, the colt, catalogued as Lot 1186, was bred by Kirtlington and Hamilton out of White Wedding, a Green Desert (Danzig) half-sister to Fillies' Mile (Gr 1, 1m) heroine Simply Perfect (Danehill) who is from the further family of multiple Group One winner Postponed (Dubawi).

"We bought the mare for €54,000 while she was in foal to Air Chief Marshal at the Arqana February Sale," said Kirtlington's Chris Budgett. "It's a wonderful family and the foal she was carrying turned out to be Zack Mayo [a three time winner this year for Charlie McBride].

He added: “Night Of Thunder worked for the mare on paper - for us, it's all about breeding racehorses."

Pinhook prospects to Blandford

Meanwhile, Richard Brown of Blandford Bloodstock concluded a productive week when coming out on top for Sea The Stars (Cape Cross) colt at 95,000 guineas shortly after signing at 80,000 guineas for a Kingman (Invincible Spirit) grandson of Islington (Sadler’s Wells). Both are set to return to auction next year.

"He's a smashing colt by an exceptional stallion,” said Brown of the Sea The Stars colt, who was catalogued as Lot 1196 and sold by Usk Valley Stud. “He's from a great Usk Valley line - it’s one of their best families.”

He is a half-brother to Listed scorer Nantyglo (Mark Of Esteem) and out of Bright Halo (Bigstone), a winning half-sister to Irish Oaks (Gr 1, 1m4f) winner Moonstone (Dalakhani), the dam of Group Three winners Nelson (Frankel) and US Army Ranger (Galileo).

Catalogued as Lot 1132, the colt is a half-brother to Madam President (Royal Applause), the dam of Showcasing's first really good horse Cappella Sansevero, and out of the winning White House (Pursuit Of Love), a half-sister to Group Two winners Little Rock (Warning)and Whitewater Affair (Machiavellian), herself dam of Dubai World Cup (Gr 1, 2000m) winner Victoire Pisa (Neo Universe).

"I bought the mare off John Greetham for 18,500 guineas in 2003 and it's now become one of our main families as we also have some of her daughters," said Michael Swinburn of Genesis Green. "It's a really tough family. I'm not sure whether it's commercial but they're as hard as nails and at the end of the day, I'm trying to breed a racehorse.”
