Meeting federal, state, district, or even local mandates while addressing the individual needs of students is a challenge to educators everywhere. The A+nyWhere Learning System® (A+LS™) is a courseware program that not only provides core curriculum content but also provides assessment tools to match skill levels of all students, whether on a developmental, remedial, or enhanced learning track.

The A+LS courseware program consists of extensive core curriculum content for grades K–12 as well as adult learners. Supported by an instructional management system, A+LS is delivered via the Internet or through a LAN or WAN. A+LS runs on Windows®, Macintosh®, Novell®, and Linux® operating systems.

The A+LS courseware program contains four fundamental components that allow educators to create and implement a complete learning solution.

Research-Based Direct Instruction ModelInstructivism, a general approach to education proven by extensive research, holds that carefully sequenced and direct instruction is most effective. A+LS curriculum is driven by the direct instruction approach to mastery with the following tools:

• Study Guides teach the concepts and skills associated with each lesson.

• Practice Tests, or Quizzes, allow the student to work through practice exercises while providing immediate feedback as well as access to the Study Guide.

• Mastery Tests determine whether the student has learned the lesson material.

• Constructed Responses, or Essays, help students analyze, synthesize, and evaluate concepts from reviewed lesson content.

Best Practices in TeachingTwenty-eight years of experience and a strong research base give A+LS the following capabilities:

• Allows for differentiating instruction in the classroom.

• Individualized, self-paced learning maximizes student progress and puts students at ease.

• Streamlined instruction.

• Effective in traditional schools, charter schools, after-school learning programs, juvenile facilities, home schools, adult literacy centers, prisons, and more.
