Activity provided that addresses SOL but not bullets Text that is used is fiction Unpack the SOL 6.5 informational selections c. use context to determine meanings of unfamiliar words and technical vocabulary. Not used with text g. Select informational sources appropriate for a given purpose. Students dont select the sources, they identify which to use Unpack the SOL Work in groups of three to discuss your SOL and why it may be scored low. Challenges 6 th grade 6.4a-h: fiction, narrative nonfiction and poetry 6.5 read informational selections 6.5d: drawing conclusions and inferences 6.5f: compare and contrast information about 1 topic in different selections 6.5g: select informational sources Challenges 7 th grade 7.5 fiction, narrative nonfiction and poetry 7.5 c. Describe the impact of word choice, imagery and poetic devices 7.5e & f: Draw conclusions and make inferences in explicit and implied information.
