MARY, THE “THEOTOKOS” The Greek word

“theotokos” means

“God Bearer,” and

it is a title given to

the Blessed Mother.

As we approach the

marking of her as-

sumption into heav-

en (August 15), let’s

ponder this image

on the tabernacle in

Geddes Hall at

Notre Dame Uni-

versity. Just as she

bore the Christ child

in her womb, Mary held him in her arms at his

death—she was the God bearer Jesus’s entire life on

earth. What a fitting image for a tabernacle contain-

ing the body of Christ! Holy Mary, Mother of God,

STATE OF LIFE LUNCHEON, WITH DAYTON

RIGHT TO LIFE Join us for an informative luncheon on the State of Life

in the US and Ohio today. Clarke Forsythe, Senior Counsel at

Americans United for Life, will share some of the little-known

background behind the Roe v Wade decision of 1973 as out-

lined in his best-seller, Abuse of Discretion. Congressman War-

ren Davidson will give us a current perspective on Roe v Wade

and its status in the US and Ohio in 2019.

“In this fine book, Clarke Forsythe, one of our finest

constitutional scholars writing on abortion jurisprudence, ex-

plores not only the legal weaknesses of Roe and its progeny, but

also the astonishing medical and public policy errors on which

the decision was based. This is a landmark work on abortion, the

Constitution, and the Supreme Court.” — review of Abuse of

Discretion” by Stephen B. Presser, Raoul Berger Professor of

Legal History

Northwestern University School of Law

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about this

infamous court decision and its impact.
