The Nip Pressure Measurement System (NPMS) is a complete nip pressure and force measurement tool that takes the guess-work out of adjusting rollers. The system measures and displays, in real-time, the pinch forces every 2” (5cm) along the roll nip. It accurately and quickly measures roller profiles and so you can correct misalignment issues and uneven pressure distribution. You can also:

•Immediately identify defective pinch roll setups• See the exact nip pressure profile along the entire roll length•Eliminate the guess-work in adjusting roll nip pressure•Reduce maintenance downtime•Perform more effective roll maintenance and troubleshooting

The system consists of an array of thin-film, resistive sensors, scanning electronics, and a Windows-based software program. Individual sensing elements, or sensels, are evenly spaced along the length and width of the sensor. Sensors are available in lengths of 18" (45.72 cm), 36" (91.44 cm), 54" (137.16 cm), or 72" (182.88 cm) and all systems accommodate a nip width of up to 1.25” (3.175 cm).

The NPMS system consists of sensors and electronics, all conveniently packaged in a self-contained portable unit. The sensors terminate at an analog-to-digital converter and sensor data transmits wirelessly to a remote laptop or computer. Systems are available in four lengths: 18" (45.72 cm), 36" (91.44 cm), 54" (137.16 cm), or 72" (182.88 cm). All systems accommodate a nip width of up to 1.25” (3.175 cm).

Above: Example of force values between a set of pinch rollers. The data can be viewed in 2-D or 3-D displays and also graphed as Force vs. Distance in real-time.
