The foundation of Creation andour very existence is that the LORDGod created human beings accordingto a deliberate design and for aspecific purpose. The LORD createdhuman beings in His image andlikeness, created us male and female,and He created us for Himself. Onlyfrom this perspective can weunderstand ourselves and the Lord’srelationship with us. God, who isLove, created us to be like Him, whois a community of love—the MostBlessed Trinity. God’s creation,God’s commandments, and God’sinteraction with us through Jesus

Christ all begin and end with this goal of participating inGod’s own nature and life - LOVE.

Therefore, in the Gospel today we hear the law andcommandments summarized in this fashion:

“Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”Jesus said to him,“What is written in the law?”He said in reply:“You shall love the Lord, your God,with all your heart, with all your being,with all your strength, and with all your mind,and your neighbor as yourself.”Jesus replied to him,“You have answered correctly;do this and you will live.”

Love fulfills the law and commandments, because wehave been created to love and have been redeemed to bechildren of God, who love. Our true nature is found in love.Love is not primarily an emotion, nor a romantic sentiment;instead Love seeks the good of the other. When we breakcommandments, we act against love and therefore sin, whichmeans we are acting against our very nature.

As the family of God, we grow together in this process ofloving. Each time we reach out to a grieving family, love is inaction. When we teach our children catechism, love is inaction. When we visit the sick or elderly, love is in action.When a couple receives the Sacrament of Marriage or brings achild for Baptism, love is in action.

In creating us male and female, God incorporatedcomplementarity into our nature, designing the human personfor the capacity of marriage. This unique relationship betweenman and woman deliberately reflects the Designer’s blueprint.Reflecting our nature to love, marriage forms the firmfoundation of family life to assist all family members attaintheir end: loving as we have been loved by God. Christianmarriage then shapes the family to be the Domestic Churchwhere the Lord is encountered regularly and intentionally.

El origen de la Creación y de nuestra propiaexistencia está en que el SEÑOR Dios creó losseres humanos según un diseño intencionado ypara un propósito específico. Por lo tanto, en el Evangelio de hoy escuchamos la ley ylos mandamientos resumidos de esta manera:

“Maestro, ¿qué he de hacer para teneren herencia la vida eterna?”Jesús le dijo: “¿Qué está escrito en la ley?”Respondió:“Amarás al Señor, tu Dios con todo tu corazón,con toda tu alma, con todas tus fuerzas,y con toda tu mente; y a tu prójimo como a ti mismo”.Jesús le respondió: “Bien has respondido.Has eso, y vivirás”.

El amor cumple la ley y los mandamientos, porquehemos sido creados para amar y ser redimidos para ser hijosde Dios, que es amor. Nuestra verdadera naturaleza estáfundada en el amor. El Amor no es ante todo una emoción, niun sentimiento romántico, sino que el amor busca el bien delotro. Cuando rompemos los mandamientos, actuamos contrael amor y por esta razón pecamos, lo que significa queestamos actuando contra nuestra propia naturaleza.

Como la familia de Dios, crecemos juntos en este procesode amar. Cada vez que nos acercamos a una familia afligida,el amor está en acción. Cuando enseñamos a nuestros niños elCatecismo, el amor está en acción. Cuando visitamos a losenfermos y ancianos, el amor está en acción. Cuando unapareja recibe el Sacramento del matrimonio o trae a un niñopara ser Bautizado, el amor está en acción.

Al habernos creado hombre y mujer, Dios incorporó lacomplementariedad en nuestra naturaleza, la concepción de lapersona humana a la capacidad de contraer matrimonio. Estarelación única entre el hombre y la mujer reflejadeliberadamente el plan del Diseñador. Reflejando nuestranaturaleza para amar, el matrimonio constituye el fundamentode la vida familiar para ayudar a todos los miembros de lafamilia a alcanzar su fin: amar como Dios nos ha amado. Elmatrimonio cristiano luego da forma a la familia para que seala Iglesia Doméstica donde el Señor se encuentra conregularidad e intencionalmente.
