In 1959 the single storey original school was constructed, with a double height Industrial arts room. In 1965 a single storey addition was constructed, to the west of the original school, with a double heightancillary/theatre space. In 1968 a single storey addition was constructed south of the 1965 addition. In 1991 a further two storey addition was constructed, and extensive interior and exterior renovations were completed. The current total gross area of the building is 4,230 m2 Current enrollment is 185.
General Summary:
Structural Summary:Concrete and steel construction, original building and additions The original 1958 building is concrete piles and grade beam with steel structure, concrete block interior walls, a partialconcrete basement and crawlspace. The 1965, and 1991 additions are slab on grade, steel structure, concrete block interior walls, with double height areas,and concrete topping on steel deck mezzanines in each (gymnasium, industrial arts, ancillary/theatre). The 1968 addition is slab on grade steel structure with concrete block interior walls. The roof structure throughout is steel deck on open web steel joists.
Envelope Summary:Coarse aggregate acrylic stucco and metal siding on exterior walls, with aluminum flashing and painted steel trim. All windows are aluminum frame. Casements in classrooms are original (1959, 1965, 1968). Balance of windows are double glazed aluminum frame (1991). Roof is built-up bituminous roofing with SBS parapets.
