    Almond BiscuitsAn easy treat anyone can make, thesealmond biscuits are a must for all thosewho love almonds.

    Baking InstructionsHeat oven to 180C, 350F,

    Gas Mark 4. Grease two

    baking trays. Mix together

    the dry ingredients, rub

    in the margarine. Add the

    essence and mix well.

    Bring together using your

    hands. Roll out thinly and

    cut into rounds. Place hal a

    blanched almond on each.

    Place on a baking tray and

    bake or teen minutes.

    Chocolate chip cookiesCrisp edges, chewy middles, and so, so easy to

    make. Try this wildly-popular chocolate chipcookie recipe for yourself.

    Baking InstructionsHeat oven to 180C, 350F, Gas Mark 4. Grease two

    baking trays.Beat the margarine until sot, add the

    sugar and cream together until light and fuy.Stir in the

    syrup, four, chocolate chips and milk and mix well. Place

    spoonuls o the mixture on the prepared trays and bake

    or 8-10 minutes. Remove rom the tray immediately and

    place on a wire rack to cool.

    Gingerbread PeopleEvery child in the neighborhood hasrequested this recipe for their Mom.

    Baking InstructionsHeat oven to 160C, 325F, Gas Mark 3. Grease a baking tray. Place four,

    salt and ginger in a bowl. Warm sugar, at and syrup together and add to

    the dry ingredients. Mix well. Add milk and mix to a rm consistency. Knead

    lightly with hands. Roll out and cut out shapes or shape bodies, arms, legs

    and head and place on the baking tray. Mark the eyes with currants and put

    some down the body, use a piece o glac cherry or the mouth and bake or

    about 10-15 minutes. Allow to cool slightly then careully lit onto a wire rack.

    Decorate with coloured Glac Icing(see above). N.B. Biscuits made with syrup

    are oten sot ater baking but will become crisp on cooling.

    Banana Tea BreadBanana bread is perfect for using up overripebananas the browner they are the better.

    Baking InstructionsHeat oven to 180C, 350F, Gas Mark 4. Grease and

    line the base o a 1 kg (2 lb.) loa tin. Mix together four,

    bicarbonate o soda and salt. Cream the butter and

    sugar until pale and fuy, add the eggs a little at a time

    alternately with the four.

    Baking InstructionsMix four and salt in basin, rub in at.

    Using a knie to cut and stir, mix with cold water to orm a

    sti dough. Turn dough on to a foured surace and knead

    lightly. Roll out and use as required. Sel raising four maybe used. the pastry will have a more cake-like texture.

    Madeira CakeMadeira cake is a sponge cake in traditional

    English cookery.

    Baking InstructionsHeat oven to 180C, 350F, Gas Mark 4. Grease an 18

    cm (7 inch) cake tin. Cream at and sugar, beat in lightly

    whisked eggs with a little four. Add essence, then old in

    the remaining four. Bake or about 1 hours. Place peel

    on top ater hal an hour in the oven.

    PancakesNot just for pancake day. The perfect easyrecipe for dessert.

    Baking InstructionsFor each pancake, heat a small amount o oil in the rying

    pan. When it begins to smoke, stir the batter and place

    approximately 3 x 15 ml spoon (3 tbsp) into the pan.

    When golden brown underneath, turn and cook other

    side. Turn out on greaseproo paper, sprinkle with sugar

    and roll up. Place on a hot dish and serve immediately

    with syrup, lemon or orange juice.

    Quiche LoraineYou can serve this classic French egg dish,

    featuring bacon and Swiss cheese, as amain course.

    Baking InstructionsHeat oven to 190C, 375F, Gas Mark 5. Line an 18 cm (7inch) fan dish or sandwich tin with pastry. Fry the bacon

    lightly, then cool. Place hal the cheese in the pastry case

    and cover with bacon. Beat the eggs and milk together,

    season and pour over the cheese and bacon. Sprinkle on

    remaining cheese. Bake or about 40 minutes until set and

    golden brown.
