Do you know of any resources in the Austin area that desktop publishing computer classes, other than the various colleges, schools, etc. Preferably I'd like free classes, but also open to fee-based ones. Thanks very much for your assistance.

Hi Christopher, The Austin Community College and the University of Texas continuing education programs are really your best bet for these types of classes. There are other free and low-fee based computer classes out there, but I do not believe they have classes on desktop publishing programs; however, you should definitely consult their webpages directly or get into contact with them to be sure:
The Austin Academy This organization helps people get into the workforce and teaches computer and other skills. Austin Area Urban League They provide computer classes for folks trying to enter the workforce. Austin Free Net This organization hosts a variety of classes and will often help people with specific programs, if asked, so it might be a good idea to contact them directly.
Austin Public Library We offer many free computer classes, but none on a specific desktop publishing program. Goodwill Industries Goodwill does offer classes on computers, though they are geared toward
helping someone obtain employment. Skillpoint Alliance They offer computer classes on various topics at three area high school
locations. Austin Public Library does have a number of books on several desktop publishing programs. For example: InDesign CS5 for Windows and Macintosh Using Microsoft Publisher 2010 It all depends on the program you're hoping to learn to use, but you could search FindIt, the library catalog, by the name of the program and see what we have.

Yes, Austin Public Libraries do carry audiovisual materials for learning Chinese. You can search and see what we have available at which locations via FindIt, our online catalog. Searching FindIt for these types of materials can be tricky, so we have some suggested search terms on our Language Learning Resources Information Guide (see "Searching the Catalog"). Under the search box in FindIt, choose "Audiobook on CD" in the "Material Format" menu to limit your search to audiovisual materials. You may also be interested in our Interactive Software or our database,
