REGIONAL DELEGATE REPORT NOVEMBER 19, 2015

Regional Delegate (RD) - Administrative Committee Please inform me about upcoming events, especially board meetings, workshops, discussion panels, and fund-raisers occurring in your area. I’m responsible to represent this body’s member areas and groups at Zonal, WSC, and any other NA - related event.. Whether the RD attends or not this information is important to the service bodies to whom I report and cooperate. Please help me be a better RD. Thank you.

Due to the large amount of email and the need to preserve its content for all NA members including future RD / RD Alt teams I am requesting an RD email address, access, username, and password.

2014-2016 ISSUE DISCUSSION TOPICS http://www.na.org/?ID=IDT-IDT Please present these Group Support workshops for your Area GSR’s. Review the separate file which includes instructions, workshop handouts, and a copy of the PowerPoint presentation slides. I will be happy to assist you. Zoe H. GPRSC RD [email protected] 267-266-8708.

I will be working with the Policy committee to hold Consensus-Based Decision-Making CBDM workshops. This alternative to Roberts Rules of Order is already being used in the West-Southwest Area and the South Philly Area. Please visit them to see it in action.

In response to proposal to research and report the Northeast Zonal Forum I attended the NEZF and Northeast Mini Service Symposium April 24-26, 2015 accompanied by Edie, ICA RCM and Tarwan, Policy Chair.

o The Northeast Zonal Forum was really well-planned and executed. A lot of business was accomplished and they graciously welcomed our team. I was very impressed with the participation of local home groups’ volunteers for providing free breakfast, lunch, and a paid Pasta Dinner at the Service Symposium / Learning Day for PR and H&I Subcommittees. Members were very enthusiastic and informative.

o A World Board member attended and answered questions concerning changes to the WSC and the role of Zones.

    WORLD SERVICES

We would like to develop an app for IOS and Android titled NA Recovery Companion based on questions from IP 9, Living the Program. Members will be able to choose whether they want to use all of the questions in this IP or some of them. They will also be able to decide whether or not to share their results. We could also include items like a clean time calculator or link to items on na.org but none of those ideas have been finalized.

o This is an idea that appeals to those of us who love our phones. You can use it to monitor recovery process on a daily basis and to stay in touch with yourself on a new level.

o If you have an objection to this, we would like to hear from you as soon as possible but definitely no later than 4 September 2015.

Membership survey o At every NA World Convention since 1996, we distribute demographic surveys. The

information we gather from our survey gets published in a pamphlet. You can see

The convention committee met on August 1, 2015 at 12pm. Meeting opened with a moment of silence. 12 traditions and 12 concepts were read. Quorum was established.

The following Area Reps were in attendance: South Philadelphia, Downtown, Northwest, Inner City, West Southwest, and Greater Camden.

As of July 31, 2015, after all checks are clear our account balance should be $2411.19.

Two main things we discussed was Hotel and Fundraising.

Our Hotel Chair heard back from the Doubletree in Valley Forge and from the Sheraton in Philadelphia. We are too large now for the Doubletree, and we are too small for the Sheraton. Both hotels told us they could not accommodate us.

We have turned our attention to the Crowne Plaza in Cherry Hill. All information has been submitted to their sales manager we are just awaiting word back. The Executive Committee also suggested we do the same with the Loews just in case. They also have all the information they need.

A big talking point for us was the fact that we need to make a large amount of money to pay for a hotel when we find one. The Hotel Committee submitted a budget of $45,000. Which is more based towards if we were having the convention in the city, if we ended up in Cherry Hill it would be closer to $25000, but still a lot of money. We discussed ideas when it came to fundraising and looked back on our history of fundraising to see what events generated the most funds.

We came to agreement that we should be holding one big ticket event each month. (Basketball Tournament, Comedy Show, etc.) We also liked the idea of each of those big ticket events to cater to the month they are being held. We came up with the following list:

September - Kickball Tournament October - SpeakerJam/Costume Party November - SpeakerJam/Comedy Show December - Bowling. January - Bball Tournament February - Speakerjam/Valentine's Dance March- Mini Convention/one day celebration April - Easter Egg Hunt/ cookout

In addition to these events we will still be having our usual fundraisers/speakerjams

We liked the idea of utilizing Cardinal Bevelaqua for a lot of these events. Tracey and Cathy are going to or already have set up a meeting with their facility. The Executive committee wants to take the burden off our Fundraising committee and spearhead these big ticket events.

    Upcoming events:

August 15 at Cardinal Bevilaqua Marathon/Fundraiser.

August 22 12-9 pm at 22nd and Chestnut Speaker Jam/Fundraiser

(Tentatively scheduled)September 19 12-6pm at FDR park. 8 team kickball tournament/cookout. $50 team registration fee. 1st place prizes.

The Kickball Tournament is tentatively scheduled because I have to submit for a picnic location and a permit and it takes 2 weeks. Once I have that locked in the information will be given out via flyers and emails.

All budgets will be submitted next month.
